I've been throttled twice already! When I did, I just messaged one of their reps on their FB page, and a couple minutes later I was un-throttled

It's not been that easy for me.....they have been emailing me back and forth for days and they have no clue what's going on.
I too was throttled. I submitted a ticket through facebook and they restored my speeds. But now I think I'm being restricted in the apps I can use. I can access the gmail app and DolphinHD but not facebook, speedtest or Market.
My phone is an AT&T phone with the Straighttalk SIM. I think for the extra $5 per month I may be moving to AT&T's GoPhone plan.
I call the byop # 8552222355 because FB support has never got the throttle fixed when I've opened a ticket. Just call that # and tell them to reprovision your account and then turn the phone off you'll be good to go.

I'm sure you're right we're all just paranoid idiots. Especially me, I just got off the phone with ST for the 2nd time because I was throttled to the typical 0.09kb d/l and yet I had 1.5mbps u/l speed. Just the user or device I'm sure. Somehow they managed to get me back to normal the second go around today which is funny considering we all know the problem is on our end.
Well, I was hoping the problem was fixed, but just had to cycle through airplane mode again. Fargo, ND using AT&T BYOD sim.

My Phone Can Amortize, Can Yours?
Actually, when I first activated my BYOD sim in an iPhone 4S, just a couple weeks after the BYOD program started, we were having intermittent outages and data disconnections like are happening this week. During that time, I had similar problems to the one described, where some apps would work and some would not and would time out. I would have to cycle in and out of airplane mode, or do a full reboot to get it working again. I asked about it here and wasn't the only one experiencing it. Tried everything including a complete wipe and start over, and still persisted. Only after about 4-5 days when the at problems started clearing up did it disappear, and haven't had those problems again. S while his story sounds far fetched, I can verify that there is a history of it happening before.
I can verify it too because until today I could use the speed test.net app from the AppStore just fine while for months I've read that other users could not. However, as of today I can no longer get that app to do a speedtest.
EndeavorOR... I think not. I rebooted my phone several times, then after removing the proxy settings was I able to use all internet apps.
I am a network engineer/systems administrator and do some independent Android programming. I can tell you for sure that it was neither device or user error.
Well, there you have it! You changed the settings on your DEVICE, and the problem was resolved. Sounds like a device issue, or an underlying carrier issue, and NOT a deliberate throttle. If ST had imposed limits on your device and its use of the network, you wouldn't be able to overcome them by simply changing your settings.
