Hey brad, when you changed to a new account did you activate a new and sim AND phone number or did you just transfer your existing account to a new sim ?

I knew right when I got throttled because my phone lost all data connection for about 30 seconds. I restarted the phone and it came back up but was sluggish.
I simply posted on the Facebook help thingy. I told them I was sure I was being throttled and she had me do a few things that didn't help then she did something that fixed it when I told her she had to remove and replace my data plan.

Well I've contacted the Facebook support. They've told me to clear my history and cache lol. I've sent them another email and hopefully it'll clear things up.

But get this... with speed test I'm getting Max 15kB/s download speed. But a whopping 300kB/s UPLOAD.
Before I was throttled I was getting Max 40kB/s download. But maybe I was trottled a second time because like i said in an earlier post, the first week I was getting like almost LTE speeds like downloaing at a megabyte a second (which I know isn't that fast but cellular internet in Mississippi is just slow) ans then after the first week I realized I was only getting 40 kilobytes.

This is just all really screwy. My upload speed was worse than my download speed awhile ago. Makes no sense.

And my ping is now at around 100ms when usually its like 250-400ms.

I don't think you're being throttled! My wife and I are both on AT&T SIMs in the Orange County area and have been experiencing the same thing. I've only used 150 MB this month, and my wife's old Windows phone uses very little data. I contacted ST's highest level reps (the ones actually in Miami) and was able to confirm that my phone has not been touched by Loss Prevention. She advised me that AT&T is having some data issues right now.

    Where are you?

I changed my number once to see if that helped but it didn't so I activated my SIM with a new number so that they couldnt link my accounts and in turn I could increase my chances of not being throttled again.

Northeast Mississippi. Around Tupelo. I put my sisters ST sim in my phone and got a steady 40kB, what I used to get a few weeks ago. Yet mine is only 15. Which I hope that doesn't confuse anyone because I know the Speed Test app defaults to mbits, but when you actually download something your speed usually it rated in bytes.

FB support asked me if "it happens everywhere"
I told them yes please reset my data or do whatever you can to fix this.
They haven't responded in almost 24 hours.

The throttle hammer is getting bigger here in AT&T South Eastern region. Guaranteed throttling past 1.6gb per month or over 100mb per day. Obviously howuch data you use is in direct correlation with how much you are effecting AT&T's network. So being that we are all copper here no FIOS we must be effecting post paid customers' speeds.

Hey man,i appreciate the post, but i am confused about the actual numbers you are getting...

40kbps is EXTREMELY low... That's even LOWER than throttle, that's like somethings really wrong...

Are you sure you have your figures correct?

Currently(when not throttled) im in a NON LTE area and Get 4-7.5 ish M ...Which equals out to about 4000-7500 Kbps....Download

When i was throttled they capped me @ around 150Kbps aka .15M download

But 40kbps down? that's like, wicked low.. If true,i am sorry man...

Keep in mind everyone,in their FINE print,in their STUPID TOS, it says they can slow your phone ANY time they want... Yet they advertise UNLIMITED!! damn that makes me mad.

@ the guy above who is saying that they aren't throttling you, or whoever he was referring to,i hope you arent suggesting that ST does not throttle.Because you are completely false... It has been PROVEN my myself and countless others..

Many people have tested same phones, with identical sims, next to each other, and one is maxed out,one isnt...

My issue with this is that you believe what the ST reps are telling you..

I have caught them in numerous lies...

I am typically the guy to give people the benefit of the doubt too...Not super pessimistic.

But there is no question whatsoever, that they do in fact throttle...NO QUESTION...

capped at 0.15/mb I called and spoke with manager and super manager and they all say it is my device. I advised them that I was a tierII tech rep for at&t and i swapped my buddies SIM in my phone and wahlaa blazing speeds. I put my SIM in his phone 0.15/MB. Therefore, it CAN NOT be a phone/device issue. The "super" manager supposedly removed and reinstated my data plan and no difference. Idk what Im gonna do but I need a device that can successfully run 4G. I sent a support ticket on FB. Im gonna ride it out till the end of the month but... Idk Sprint post paid is looking pretty good right now...

Use the Facebook page or call tracfone tech support. The straight talk reps don't know their head from a hole in the ground. I don't see why you are getting pissy about it because you had to have used a good bit of data before they throttled. I had to go over 2GB before they bothered me. How much more can you expect for $45 a month?

You should expect what they're marketing. Nothing more or less.

The best thing to do is order a sim from the ST store and activate a new account. Otherwise your data speeds will NEVER increase again from my experience with this company.

They insisted I wasn't throttled but any phone I put my sim in gave the same results and just to be thorough I swapped sims into my phone and they tested out fine so it wasn't my phone. So my last alternative was a new account since I'd already changed #'s and now I have the proper speeds.

The Facebook support had me un throttled in an hour. I would try that before spending more money.

Well, KiloBYTES per second, not kilobits. The Speed Test app defaults to Mb (megabit) which is not the same as a mB (megabyte).
a megabyte is about 1/8th the size of a megabit. So when it says 7.5 Mb/s, you're actually getting about 937 kilobytes per second, just under a meg.

If you're actually getting it rated in bytes then I'm sorry for all that lol, I just know the actually Speed Test app defaults to bits.

but yes, 3g/HSPA+ is really slow around here for some reason.

I'd show some screenshots but apparently I'm not allowed because I haven't posted enough.
So I'll just type out the results.

    -Test 1 (kBps)
    Ping: 75
    Download: 19.2 kB/s
    Upload: 364.1 kB/s

    -Test 2 (Mbps)
    Ping: 111
    Download: 0.15 Mbps
    Upload: 2.33 Mbps

Look at that upload speed. Why isn't it being throttled?
If only there were some way to use my upload speed as download.
