Verizon New iPad in Canada? Any luck getting a working SIM Prepaid?
I'm traveling to Canada next month for a week, and would like to use Cellular Data while there with my VZW New iPad. I've read a lot of posts about credit checks and hassle getting an iPad SIM there. Has anyone used a Rogers or Telus prepaid phone plan with data add-on and unlockit.co.nz to get around the hassle? I know LTE isn't available for me, but I just need 3g data on my new VZW iPad. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.

Thanks. I'm not concerned about SIM locks. I'm more concerned about service plans and APNs. As I understand it, the true iPad plans in Canada are all postpaid and require Canadian address and credit. As there are no prepaid iPad plans for the "new" iPad, I'm curious if people have been successful using a prepaid phone plan in the iPad and whether it required unlockit.co.nz to add an APN or not.

Okay the plans aren't device specific to the degree that an ipad 2 plan won't work on an ipad 3. An ipad plan will work on any ipad (well, 2 or 3, not the original) that has cellular service, just because Rogers hasn't updated their website doesn't have any bearing on whether your device will work, all that stipulation meant at the time is that it wouldn't work on the original ipad just the ipad 2 which is when that disclaimer was written. And you kind of understand wrong, not completely but partially. Not all plans on the ipad are postpaid, I don't know why you would have heard that. There are indeed postpaid plans and flex rate plans, but when you pop in a Rogers Sim you can sign up for a Rogers prepaid plan right from your ipad. (from the cellular data tab, and I think that's the only way to sign up for that particular plan)
if the link doesn't work, just look up "ipad plan" in the search bar of the Rogers site.
(Long story short, $15 for 500mb, $35 for 5gb) and you can cancel right before your new billing cycle starts or else you get billed for another 30 days (whereas the postpaid plans require 30 days notice to cancel) now as for having a Canadian address, that I do not know. That very well could be a stipulation in the pay as you go option (although I doubt it, if you have a valid credit card that should be all you need) although the flex rate and postpaid plans do indeed need a Canadian address. Honestly, just phone up Rogers and ask: 1-888-Rogers1 (1-888-764-3771)
