It runs on ATT prepaid go phone service... dont do it if you going for the 2 GB of data. Their speeds are being throttled big time according to other people on this forum and for me.

I'm running on Straight Talk with an ATT SIM, and got almost 7Mbps down speed last night here in Fargo, ND. If you stay under the 100 Meg per day, and 2 gig per month limits, speed sure beats Verizon.

full speeds guaranteed for more than a gig a month(probably closer to 1.5gb) along with max of 100mb per day.
this is the postpaid network, Red pocket is ATT prepaid, which in of itself is pretty big and extensive. 3G and HSPA is faster on GSM compared with VZW 3G.

There is only one AT&T network, postpaid and prepaid all run on the same network. The only difference is how you pay for it.

I think they mean postpaid vs prepaid coverage. Postpaid includes roaming whereas prepaid doesn't. In context of this thread, Red Pocket has the same coverage as AT&T prepaid.

Not true for everyone. I've had Red Pocket since December 2011 and have never been throttled.
6.58mbps tonite on a speed test and that's close to what is has been for months.

Why did you do that for mms settings? Thats a lot of work. Just jailbreak and just download tether me (you can get it for free by adding the repo: cydia.xsellize.com in cydia, and download tetherme through that repository. Then just go into settings general> network> cellular data settings and enter your mms settings.

It's the same except you get no roaming coverage.

When I altered the plist files there was no untethered jailbreak for my iOS. Also altering the files and restoring my iPhone took less than half an hour. No big deal.

I might also add that how Prepaid vs Postpaid data is handled is different. So prepaid due to both technical limitations and possible throttling is definitely slower than Postpaid in areas with HSPA+ w/ enhanced backhaul.

Prepaid data is routed through AT&T datacenters either in Chicago or Atlanta; in essence it travels from the tower all the way to Chicago or Atlanta then out onto the internet to the destination. Postpaid users with 4G data plans get routed through more local networks so it reaches the public internet faster and thus has lower latency.

How did you alter the plist? can you advise what steps were made to get this working with redpocket. I have a verizon cdma iphone 4s it appears to have a bad esn. I have the gevey sim and it's working fine with redpocket however, when I try to modify the apn settings for mms they revert back to vodaphone and I can't seem to find the file on the iphone associated with this default settings. Thanks!
