Verizon's new Share Everything Plans discussion thread

I wouldn't do it . The new plans you will lose some discounts .Right now your discount is being applied to both data and voice if you go to a new shared plan you will lose one of those discounts. I am shocked that people pay for hot spot it's a simple 1 minute hack and then you are rocking and rolling. Stay with your current plan cause you are much better off and you don't have to worry about going over 4gigs and minutes are a mute point with apps like groove ip and google voice

Under my Unlimited Everything plan with the 4GB data, I was not eligible for any discounts under my employee plan. Now...I get at least 1 discount.

I am getting the 4GB unlimited Share Everything Plan upgrading from my nationwide talk and text 450 plan... Do you think this is a good idea to get this since my line is the only line... I dont have more than one..

For the same price, we are getting unlimited minutes, texts, and the ability to tether (with ~1GB of leeway). For our situation, I think the share plan will benefit us.

Same for us. Went from 4/4/2 to 6G shared, but we weren't using anywhere near that anyhow, and I needed the minutes...

Perhaps, but I've been with Verizon from the Airtouch days and they have always had a plan that suits my needs. Whatever their future evil plan is I'm sure it will include a price plan that I can work with...

No hack required any more. Foxfi works without rooting and is far more reliable than android tether ever was.

My family and my wife's family have decided to combine all lines into one big account. We will fill it with 10 smartphones and pick the 20GB share data for 150. 550 plus tax for all lines = 55/month plus tax per line for unlimited talk and text and 2GB of data each with the ability to use it for tethering if we want. Throw in the fact that we will continue to get device subsidies every 20 months on all lines, and this deal becomes hard to beat.

It's a little bit of both. You will find it much easier to access websites and data, so you might tend to do more in the same amount of time. Also higher quality video, picture uploads, etc will use more data. Web sites will still use the same amount of data, but again, you'll be more likely to move on to the next site, since it will work so much better than what you have now. On 3G, Netflix was useless imo, youtube was really worth the effort either. But now, I turn on my hotspot when I'm at work and have free time and can stream Netflix to my iPad and it's a good deal. Anyway, that's exactly what Verizon is banking on, as Whitetigergrowl pointed out, most users will not take into account their changing usage habits and will end up paying Verizon a lot more money.

Jamesstark I haven't even seen that large of a plan! I didn't even know it was available! Thanks for enlightening me. We will be with 8 people if we marry our two groups of family. That would be nice since I get a discount through my employer on the data of the new plan. I'll have to think about that!

8 lines x $40= $320
16GB data = $130

Throw in a corporate discount and you are looking at 425 or so for 8 lines with unlimited talk and text and 2GB each. Under 55/line before tax. Imagine what this does for many small businesses.

I had read that this was an unintended consequence of the Share Everything plan. When Verizon upped the number of devices to 10, they expected people to add tablets or aircards, not additional phones. If a customer has a lot of lines (to the point where they are signing up for two family plans) or has trusted family where they can combine their family plans, then there is definitely a savings for switching to Share Everything. I bet Verizon will figure out how to close this loophole pretty soon, like preventing businesses from taking advantage of it, or something like that.

Verizon has already started addressing this to a certain extent. When they first announced Share Everything, you could go up to a maximum monthly allowance of 30 GB. They quietly did away with that and now the largest bucket you can buy up front is 20 GB.

I will never find a better deal than what I have now with my verizon plan.

I have 4 smartphones and 1 feature phone sharing 1400 min, unlimited text AND unlimited data. I pay $200 per month including 3 roadside assistant plans and all taxes.

I noticed two things today browsing through verizon.com at my account. I saw that it is possible to purchase a smartphone and order 300mb of data at $40, so 1gb @ $50 is not the cheapest option. I also saw that if I wish to add an additional line of service, I would be forced to switch to the new share plans. My talks with CS prior to the 28th, indicated I could add a new line of service at a later date and switch from my individual plan to a family plan, keeping my current features intact and adding tiered data to the new line. I will be needing an additional line of service in the near future, but if that means switching my current line to the new plans in order to add that line of service,then Verizon won't get that extra line. I'd be willing to add the new line under the new plans, but no way will I switch my current unlimited to a new plan any time soon.

All it takes is one medium data user to cause expensive data overages in a 10 phone plan. With LTE easy to do.
