We have 4 lines. 3 dumbphones and me with my iPhone. We're currently paying ~$141 incl. taxes and all the other wonderful charges.

The three dumbphone lines are currently eligible for upgrades. If they were to upgrade our same plan would cost ~$180 for ONLY 1 gb! My parents don't want smartphones. They are fine with the talk/text. How is this helping us out? These plans should be cheaper. 1 gb should start at $10, increasing in $10 increments. People would easily start purchasing the most expensive bucket of data because it's a reasonable price. $60 for 10gb of data sounds reasonable. We're just going to haveto keep our plan I guess and start shopping on CL or ebay for our phones.

Well, if the current prices stand when I'm ready to upgrade in a few months, then yes I will definitely leave VZ. I've been with them for years since 2000. I tried Sprint when I lived in LA but I stuck with Verizon because of the better coverage. These new prices are just utterly ridiculous. At&t is apparently going to implement the same thing soon. Who knows what Sprint will do, I hate their phones so I don't think that's an option for me. I'll tell you what, StraightTalkSim.com is looking better & better every day!

I don't understand why everyone is so confused.

First of all, you have to understand that the new Share Everything plan is only an OPTION. No one will be forced to it, you only will be changed to it if you request it. All of Verizon's currently available plans will still be available (individual, 700 shared, 1400 shared, etc) after June 28th. The only thing is if you're on unlimited data and you upgrade after June 28th then you will lose your unlimited data and be moved to tiered data ($30 for 2GB, $50 for 5GB, etc).

Again, Share Everything is ONLY AN OPTION not mandatory. All current plans will still be available.

VZN just told me today that my discount expires in Nov. So, turns out that my cuarrent plan will NOT still be available. I had that great deal from the retention dept. This is a major game changer as far as I am concerned because I, too, believed as you do. Until today.

Can you please show me where you got this info? All I am seeing is that people on unlimited can go down to the $30/$50 2/5gb data plans. I'm not seeing anything about options for people who want to upgrade a line on a family plan to a smartphone after the 28th, if they need to switch to the share everything plan or not.

Also ALL NEW CUSTOMERS are 100% guaranteed to be FORCED onto the new share everything plan, based on the training materials that leaked. There is NO MORE 700/1400 min shared plan, there is no more 2GB data or 5GB data at $30 or $50 for new customers.

I talked to a friend who has worked for verizon for ten years and he told me they won't force anyone off a plan they are happy with and should offer the old plans for quite some time. These plans are for data sharing purposes which will prob be the norm down the road but he stressed that for quite some time data sharing will be optional. He said single lines will not get the shaft like it seems since they won't be sharing data.

it's all semantics. My deal is considered a "discount" and not a plan.

I have been a consistent supporter and promoter of Verizon. But these plans are garbage and I will not support their money grab any further. Not sure what the landscape will be like when my contract is up on June 23, 2013 but I will be looking around. I owe Verizon no loyalty as they have shown us customers none.

I'm going to stay as long as my phone keeps working, using at least >30GB is my goal. The contract end date is 4/2013, so I am stuck until at least then.

Once April of next year comes around, hopefully the other carriers will beef up the network in my area.

If a customer is already on an EXISTING plan then, yes, they can keep that plan, or move to Share Everything. If you do switch to Share Everything, or try to sign up NEW lines of service, then the existing plans are *NOT* available after 6/28.

    Correct. 10char
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.
