Hey Guys,
I've been dealing with my dropped call and missed call problem with Fido since I bought my iPhone 4 in 2010. I've gone through several replacement phones, new sim cards, network resets, an iPhone 4S (Which I use now) and even the Fido branded Google Nexus, all with the same problems. Fido support and the network team all say I am showing no signs of issues on their end and keep telling me I'm being unreasonable expecting that I will never get a dropped call. I do have high usage (around 1200 minutes), but that is with about 3-4 calls, just longer calls. However during these calls almost 50% of them require 1-2 callbacks due to disconnects.
I'm not eligible for any retention plans due to my current discounts, but I'm really frustrated with the service and lack of response from Fido. I've escalated it several times once before to the office of the president, who basically said I'm not eligible for any discounts or compensation. I've just spoken to another manager today and same thing, I'm looking at speaking to the office of the president and then the ombudsman and finally the CCTC.
I have about a year left in my contract and really don't want to continue unless my issue is finally resolved, however I don't feel it is justified that I would have to pay cancellation fees should I end the contract early due to my issues.
What are my options and what suggestions do you guys have for me? I've send a request through to the office of the president and am currently on that step.
Thanks guys, any help is really appreciated!

While no carrier will warrant the quality of their network, OOP has provisions internally to allow for clients to leave at no charge under extenuating circumstances. It'll be up to you to convince them to do this for you.
I'm aware they will happen, however every night I call or receive a call at around 9-11:00 and without a doubt if it is a 40 minute call, I will get the call failed message at least once or twice during the call. No issues if I use an app like Skype or dell voice over my wifi or even 3G. Seems like some routing issue for voice calls.
I had come from another carrier to fido and although my previous carrier didn't have as strong a signal near y house I never experienced the number of dropped calls as I do with fido.
If it was 1 in 10 calls, although that is still high, I would be ok, but without fail it happens during 50% of my calls at night and randomly throughout the day
I'm not sure what City you are in, but I am in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and i'm noticing MANY dropped calls in the past 2 weeks. It seems turning off 3G fixes the issue, however, the voice quality also goes down on 2G (I always thought the 3G network was just for faster data).
I've made 2 calls to Fido about this, since I have this issue on my iPhone 3GS, as well as my Fido T715a. SIM card was replaced in 2010. Both calls to Fido resulted in some sort of 'Network Reset'.

Michael
I'm from St. Catharines. I can't turn off 3G unfortunately on the iPhone 4S which was my only real solution previously with the iPhone 4...
Both of your phone choices - iPhone and (Samsung) Google Nexus - have poor RF radios compared to Motorola or Blackberry devices. This will be evident with Google searches on the sheer amount of complaints (world-wide) about the iPhone and Samsung RF problems.
Try temporarily switching to a Blackberry or Motorola if you can borrow from a friend or something similar. I would wager that your dropped calls will reduce. Now as for other features ... that's a different conversation!
Normally I'd agree with you, but in this case my SonyEricsson T715a is also exhibiting the same issue, so I don't think the iPhone is to blame.
I think it would also be worth pointing out that this issue happens when I am outside with full signal on a major street, despite a Rogers tower located maybe 500 feet from where I was walking.

you actually can turn off 3g on the 4S. when it was first released, yes you're right you couldn't. about a month or two ago when apple released ios 5.1, and more recently the current 5.1.1 they reintroduced that option. if you want it, connect your phone to itunes and update your ios software. you'll find it in the settings>general>network menu.
With per minute billing, Fido has even less incentive to correct the problem of dropped calls. Every dropped call gets rounded up meaning extra revenue, in addition to the already existing additional revenue of making the call again after it is dropped.
