The Rezound has a better camera, the Maxx has better battery life and is thinner. The Maxx's battery life even outdoes the Rezound's extended battery, which doubles the thickness of the phone. The Maxx has a larger screen. The Rezound has a more stable data connection.
Overall, I prefer the Rezound to the Maxx, although I am also partial to HTC's Sense over Motorola's Blur.
I just got the Maxx. Lovin' it so far. I was finally willing to switch to Android from an iPhone because of the great battery life the Maxx has. I'm also enjoying the 4.3" screen coming from a 3.5" screen. Luckily I have big hands so I can handle it with one hand effectively. Not sure I would want the phone if I had small hands. My buddy at work, who has small hands, has an Incredible 2 and said he'd never get a phone that big because he couldn't use it with one hand. Something to consider.
Just got 4G in my area and so far the data connection has been rock solid. Just ran a speed test and right now I'm getting 17.3 MB down and 5.5 MB up. Smokin'! I can now run Pandora with "Higher quality audio" checked and it does sound better.
I can't believe my cell phone internet access is faster than my home broadband (Comcast) connection.
I've been spoiled by the 720P screen on my Rezound, so I don't think I can ever go less.
However, I am highly tempted by the Maxx by its immense battery and how thin they kept it. Great job Motorola, it makes me forgive you for the fact that its non-removable!
thanks for the replies. For those who have the ReZound, just how bad is the battery life? I have and incredible 2 with regular battery. how would it compare?

In a couple months, Verizon's LTE is going to have better coverage than Sprint's entire network, and it will be the largest network of any kind in the US by next summer, so I wouldn't think too much about that.

It's not.
Get the MAXX, having the phone work when you need it is key, and the design on that device is killer.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry. Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T. If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

The same 2750 mAh extended battery fits in both the Thunderbolt and the Rezound. In the Thunderbolt, I can go from wake up at 6:30 am to going to bed at midnight and the battery level won't turn yellow (where the battery level drops below 30%). In the Rezound, the battery level turns yellow around 8-9 pm.

I'm assuming both phones are using the same settings? Are they using the same battery, or do they each have their own? I'm just wondering if one using an older battery could account for the difference?
The 720P display on the Rezound is gorgeous, especially with HD pictures and video. I don't think I can go back to a lower resolution screen. However, I am also miffed over how easily my Rezound will overheat and kill the battery, even on the extended battery. I am extremely impressed at the capacity Motorola crammed into the MAXX while maintaining its slim profile, even if the battery is non-removable.
Also, the Rezound is more friendly to development due to having an unlockable bootloader.

Imo, unless its defective, it sound like the processor is overtaxed in some situations which would be unrelated to the battery. Does it occur in certain situations? Are you rooted? Can you underclock it? What's your avg signal?
