    Upgrade/downgrade

My wife and I had our first child in January. We are trying to save money and cut cost where we can. We have two Mesmerize phones right now. We were thinking about going to a "dumb" phone and save money. Its just frustrating throwing the idea around when we both have had a smartphone and thats what technology is going to. We were thinking either the LG Saber or the Samsung Freeform 4. Not sure if either are good phones and would like you guys opinion.

I think its called the Family Essential Plus. 1000 minutes 5GB data and unlimited messaging. $139.99. Plus $5.95 each phone for Device Insurance for a total of $168.01 after taxes and everything.

That;s not a bad monthly payment. You could drop to voice only for $69.99 for 1000 shared. or voice and messaging unlimited for $99.99 a month. I always found it a pain in the *** texting on a dumb phone.

Yeah we were thinking about the voice and messaging for $99.99 and getting the LG Saber or the Samsung Freeform 4 since it has the Qwerty keyboard. Then I was looking today online and saw prepaid plans with unlimited voice and messaging with 2GB ( I think) for $50 per phone.

Is the coverage for a pre-paid plan the same as a regular account like we have now?

prepaid now includes nationwide coverage. If your thinking of prepaid, the joint venture between US Cellular and Alltel is a better deal. For $50/month you can get the android plan with unlimited talk and text/2GB of data. Only problem is the only phone for that right now is the Samsung Repp. There are also cheaper non smartphone plans at $30 and $40/month.
