I have had my wifi and 4g off but just about an hour ago, I got the radio interface resource error message. Hoping for a fix here soon.

I haven't gotten the radio interface error, but maybe what I'm experiencing is related.

When turning on the wifi hotspot feature, my EVO will go from full strength 3G to no data at all. Turning off the hotspot will bring the 3G back again. It's very frustrating because I got this phone primarily to have legitimate hotspot access.

Has anyone had this same issue and discovered a workaround? I may have to call support, which I'd really like to avoid.

*edited to add mine has Sprint branding.

This happened to me yesterday for a few hours. I turned off my phone, turned it back on and had no service for another couple of hours. I turned my phone back off for an hour or so.

Turned it back on and it has worked since. Keeping my fingers crossed that it fixed itself because this experience was very irritating.

I broke down and called VM Support. Whatever the issue was, it wasn't the radios interfering with each other since a simple "profile" update on the phone fixed it. Probably a service setting that didn't get flipped when I moved from my Triumph.

For the record it was giving an Error 67 message when turning on the hotspot feature on the Evo.

That pretty much sums up what everyone is doing abrinson, a simple call and a fix is sent over by sprint. No need to play with the phone to find out whats wrong.

BTW are those of you trying to do hotspots with problems, did you purchase the $15 addon package?

jeffmd, I haven't purchased the addon package that I know of. There were some issues activating the phone and I was definitely "upgraded" from my old $25 plan to the $35 one, but from what I've read on the VM website, the hotspot feature is included with the phone on any plan, and ups the bandwidth cap to 3.5gb before you get throttled.

huh, some other thread was claiming they charged his new activation an additional 15 bucks for hotspot, but searching the web yields virgin mobile using any such fee.

The hotspot is definitely a $15 add-on. It is listed on (under) the chart for the Beyond Talk plans. It's new as of the EVO V and wasn't offered before this. Trying to use the hotspot feature without being "authorized" to do so is probably what caused your phone problems.

You have to purchase the additional $15 mobile hotspot package to use this feature on your EVO otherwise it will not work.

I also have this problem. Sometimes I will be able to send texts fine, but then randomly I will get the error. Very irritating.

I also receive texts from others in batches, as if they all get stuck in air while I get the error, then all make it to my phone once I get a connection again. I just got 6 messages rapid fire from the same person..

    What is the fix?!?!

    Radio Interface Resource Shortage

I just signed up for Virgin Mobile and I got the EVO V 4G. It seems like sometimes when I go to send texts during, most of the time, off peak hours, I get the 'Radio Interface Resource Shortage" error being displayed. When I go for the details, I get "cause code: 64" and "error class: 2". I was searching around and I saw people getting the same error on postpaid, especially in areas where "Network Vision" is currently being completed. I was wondering if anyone else on Virgin Mobile or Sprint is getting this issue. I can still place phone calls and make data transfers over 3G.. I was wondering what the cause of this is. Are Sprint's towers just simply overburdened right now?

If it helps, I am on the southeast part of PA.

I got the message for the first time yesterday. Noticed a few peculiarities just before it did...

I had Wifi on for at least 24 hours...

Most of the time when I had Wifi on, towards the end just before I experienced the error message, the signal bars for CDMA/EVDO service was completely missing, but not indicating no signal (with an "X").

Error occured shortly after I disabled Wifi to make sure a picture message attachment would go through.

Occasionally, when switching back to wifi, the Wifi icon also shows no signal... just a dot... despite being less than 10 feet away from the router.

Based on what people have said and what I've seen... this error seems to fundamentally be caused by poor signal conditions that the device can't recover from (Interference or just an outage) or cannot tell if it has recovered from...

I'm wondering if something automated, like using Tasker to automatically toggle Airplane Mode every hour, would help to work around the issue.

After getting the error, toggling airplane mode gave me back normal signal indications along the lines of what I expect from past experiences in my apartment.

I have been getting the "dot only" on my wifi indicator only. The wifi can be kind of unreliable atleast for my router. Mostly it works fine but sometimes I either get the dot (in which it works fine, but will eventually turn off after 10 minutes) or it failes to connect and 3g stays on. My optimus never had a problem.
