Question Something like Prepaid service for SMS need

I need some prepaid phone/sim card:

    1. With dedicated number from US carrier.
    2. No need for voice service but must be able to receive SMS when roaming out of US, like in China/Korea/Taiwan and so on.
    3. With a relatively long active lifetime, better be able to buy credit online.
    4. Low price initially, it would be used just for receive sms.

Does anybody have good suggestions for me?

    Thanks you.

    Check out Truphone.
    Truphone

US phone number. FREE incoming SMS. Works world wide [Do you have a phone that will work in Korea??]
Must use a charged service every 90 days--send an SMS. $30 with a $15 credit. The free incoming SMS might make it really attractive for you. There are a number of people here using them. I think most are happy with the kind of uses they do use it for.

    Thanks for your advise.

I just look into some info about Truphone, and found the number the provide is a VOIP number. That will not do for me.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Look for the SIM, not the app.

I have tried and select one number, it shows VOIP number.

I've searched and look into many solutions, and found that ROGERS and FIDO provide sms forward service even when the phone is off, but need active in North America. Do you know that if I can active the sim card or service out of US/Canada?

    Thank you!

Seriously get the Tru SIM, it is exactly what you need with free incoming SMS anywhere in the world they cover. You get a USA number that works like any other cell phone. What is a "VOIP number" anyway?

"VOIP" number is blocked by many service providers, like Blizzard and amazon.
If I need one, Google Voice is a better choice.

The problem is to get US number as a real phone.

Telna. They're still in beta and so don't expect 99.99% uptime. Feel free to PM me if you need more information - I've had their service for a couple of months now and will be happy to discuss some more.
