Verizon iPhone data roaming international- proxy error
Hi guys,
I am totally stuck here. I am in Japan, and my data stopped working today. More on that in a second... posting here because I have been totally unable to get through to customer service. I call the 800 # through Skype, follow the prompts, and every time eventually I get to this message: "you have reached a number that is no longer in service at verizon wireless." Like, how is that even possible???
**EDIT- got the problem fixed- answer at the end. Still would like to know how to reach Verizon somehow***
Ok, so back to part one... Been here 5 days, data roaming plan for $25 working great. Perfect. Then today, I get this message in Safari:
Cannot Open Page
Safari cannot open the page.
The error was: "There was a problem communicating with the web proxy server (HTTP).".
Mail is working fine. Maps doesn't work, and neither do other browsers. Ok, so it's a HTTP problem like it says.
Any ideas how to either solve this myself, or reach Verizon? Sales is closed now. I don't see any way to chat online with them. Uf....
***ok found the problem- Ovano. Little tool compresses your data while roaming... it worked great the first 5 days. Saved me 70MB or so. No idea why it stopped working. But deleting the profile in settings and turning it off seems to have my HTTP back in action. Maybe they are having service problems. I'm not going to test it again for a couple days. Again, any ideas on how to actually reach Verizon would be great! Thanks!!
