    Phone breaking SIM cards?

So I bought a Bell HTC One V, unlocked it, and tried to use my Virgin Mobile SIM card on it. After some calls to the technical support, it finally worked, but after about 30 minutes of working, the phone suddenly displayed "No SIM Card Inserted".

I restarted the phone, but it still displays that there is no SIM card. I pulled the SIM card out and put it in my old Virgin Mobile phone, but it also said that there was no SIM card detected.

I took it to a Virgin Mobile store to get the SIM card replaced, and later put it into my new phone again, but after a few minutes of working, it turned up with the same error.

Are phones capable of breaking SIM cards? I was always under the impression that it was not possible, but now I'm not so sure. And I don't know what to do with the unlocked Bell phone, and why it connected to the network and worked for a few minutes before not detecting the SIM.

Hey, you know all new Bell phones work with Virgin without requiring an unlock? Bell owns Virgin, so you wasted money there if you paid.

As for the SIM, I have never heard that, but as you unlocked the phone, pretty sure your Bell warranty is void.

Assuming he unlocked the phone via an unlock code, then he simply used a feature of the code. I suspect Bell would have a hard time making a case in court that using a feature of the phone that Bell sold him voids the warranty. Of course, IANAL.
