    Bye-bye Nokia

Soon to be gone Nokia - http://money.cnn.com/2012/06/14/tech....htm?hpt=hp_t2 . Looks like the writing is on the wall for Nokia - as as been stated, they chose unwisely to go with the WinJunk OS. It's probably too late for them to make corrections in their strategy at this point and they will be relegated to the dustbin within 2 years...

It is quite likely they would be more successful had they also developed Android devices as well. Lets hope all the money MS has given them makes up for going exclusively to WP.

As previously pointed-out, Nokia tied their anchor to the wrong platform. Article on Yahoo! finance hits it on the head - http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily...145151720.html

The only hope for Nokia now is for M$ to buy them. However, do two bricks tied together float better than one?

I think the picture will change when Windows 8, Windows 8 Tablets and Windows Phone 8 all come out. Either it will generate sales and improve the picture or it will not. The picture will become clearer for Nokia then. I wouldn't discount Microsoft buying them either.

Microsoft gave tons of money to Nokia and they got plenty of attention because they were promoting something different. It is not like Google was going to give them even a penny. Plus there are enough vendors making those other phones that nobody would even notice Nokia. Whose to say that Nokia phones would even be carried by any of the big 4 carriers?

In a way it was. Surface is quite impressive, especially with the hardware. That'll strengthen the ecosystem and Nokia will benefit from it
Sent from my Lumia 710 via the HowardForums WP7 App
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband.

Don't send me PMs for questions that can be asked publicly.

Yep Nokia is dead. Microsoft put the knife in their back with no backwards compatibility for older devices. I know I am leaving this platform as soon as I can.

The fact is, for every small minded person like you that leaves, 10 more will come to the platform with WP8. Nokia will do just fine.

I'm sure sticking with Symbian would have been OK. Actually, to be serious, no, it wouldn't be OK. Nokia was already losing their shirts with Symbian and even if they went Android, there would have been no guarantees they would be profitable, even though Android probably offered the best chance for an orderly transition from Symbian with a chance to merge the two OS'es. The mistake was Windows NT not being the foundation of WP7. Microsoft should have leveraged the strong ecosystem they had.
