To clarify, I haven't actually tried a Mobilicity Amaze but when the same issue is presenting itself on Amaze phones sold by other carriers, the issue isn't the result of the carrier customization but rather something deeper that more than likely affects all variants (since the software for each carrier's phone isn't started from scratch and each version surely shares most of the programming code).
Can you try it again for users of the Mobilicity version but while paying close attention to make sure that all the conditions below are met?
-flash must be enabled ("auto" or "on" is fine)
-must use side shutter button to take picture
-must hold down side shutter down HALF WAY until you hear the AUTO FOCUS BEEP sound, and then press side shutter button the rest of the way down
-flash must activate itself/go off/fire while the picture is being taken
If the Mobilicity version is affected, you will get a blank, black screen instead of your picture's image.
