    Virgin deducting payment early

The other night I got a top-up card, because I thought my plan would be up the next day. Once I topped-up, I recieved two text from them. One saying I paid for my next month and the other saying the low balance. i was kind of surprised because it was they did it right away. Well I looked at my account online and it said my plan was paid for the next month and that my plan would of been up a couple days later. Anyone else find that virgin is taking payment quicker?

Had that happen to me. I had renewal coming up on 06/04 and I topped up $50 on 06/01 (I had $0 balance so I had to add money), VM immediately took $25 as soon as I topped up instead of waiting until 06/04. I let it slide because they obviously did not deduct any on the actual renewal date of 06/04, but it is kind of shady.

VM did send a text or email saying that they would start 'automatically topping up for you' if you had the available amount of money in your balance, maybe it's starting to take effect now, or i just never noticed.

VM sent out a text awhile back indicating if you have enough credits in your account, the next month payment would be applied. You can "refund" the money though. If I recall, right on top of the account info, there's a link to "unpay" the next month. This is useful, if you wish to change plan or use credit to purchase a phone.

They seem to apply the funds to your account early if you have enough money in your VM Top-Up funds to cover your next monthly payment. Probably to avoid service interrupt errors on their end.

Even though they apply it to your account, your next month does not renew until its renewal date UNLESS you request to ReStart your month immediately (in case you are out of minutes or have used more than 2.5Gb of data and are subject to throttled speeds).

This is their standard operating procedure now, I guess. I also recall receiving a text message indicating that they would be paying everything a month in advance if adequate funds existed in your account. This is VM's way of keeping people locked in for as long as possible.

It doesn't really make any difference to me. If you top up a day before your service is actually due (instead of buying pins/service way in advance) the net effect is going to be the same. It does come across as a little weird, though.

Well, VM always automatically deducted appropriate charge on the day your plan was supposed to renew. The thing is, they deduct it at least a few days early now. That's the reason behind the OP.

7/4 for me, I'd be really upset if it became 7/1.

Last week on (12th or 13th) I added $40 to my account, (I'm still on the $25 plan) my due dates the 24th and so far it shows I still have $40 balance. So I guess my question is do they normally take the early payment right then when you top up ? or a few days later ?

VM has it set up now, that you can top up early.

I get the message every month when I go voer my 2.5GB data limit, they tell me I can top up early and not be throttled on data.

They allways gave you the option of starting a new month early (keep in mind you are shorting yourself the previous month) for instances like when you are near data cap or almost out of minutes.

Normally I add a $25 pin 4-5 days before due date. My $25 goes into my account and is deducted on my due date (the 6th in my case). I just added another $25 card and it automatically credited to next month, with my balance staying at the $1.60 I had. Very different than the past year, but not a big deal. Does give you a button to cancel payment.
