Best US source for a non contract GSM iPhone 4S?

Hello friends,

One of my friends living outside the USA, in India (GSM network) has requested me to buy him an IPHONE 4S.

I live in the USA and have a US credit card, address, etc.

I would need one without a contract, and can either buy it locked or unlocked, depending on your advice.

I prefer to deal with a reputed seller, store, as opposed to craigslist. A reputed ebay seller/store is also ok.

I know the apple store sells the unlocked non contract version.

I was wondering if you could guide me on this.

I can confirm that through all retail (corporate, authorized reseller) channels that the price of the iPhone will be the same. You can order it online through Apple or any other online reseller either locked or unlocked. I would stay clear of Craigslist at all costs.

For an unlocked phone, just go to the apple store--either online or brick&mortar. They're the best source for unlocked phones.
