I was going to treat myself and also needed to replace my honey's troublesome Desire.
I guess the day is not worth their marketing effort. After going through the Sunday paper here in Knox,
it seems like USCC is now geared towards new customers and the existing customer base can just go
pound sand. They must be gearing up towards capturing the segment that switches carriers every two years.
The shift in technology to smartphones must be cutting into the profit margins.
Meanwhile my son just showed me that I could join him on his Big Red plan and save ~$50/month. *SIGH*

I have been with USCC for a very long time and enjoyed the service and good price. I patiently waited for 3g and decent phones to come out. The faster upgrades also made me stay and not concerned about having the latest and greatest. Now all that is gone. Upgrades are every 22 months instead of 18. Finally got the SII after waiting for months and then two months later they announce the SIII which only screws existing customers, new customers buying the SII would not know any better and now I have to wait for 4g in the Chicago area. I am thinking of switching carriers out of principle alone
You're right JK, it's a wash jumping on his plan, after adding up all the nickels and dimes that he didn't factor in.
@msird - They don't have 4G in Chitown yet? I can understand Knoxville not having it, but Chicago?
I'm not all that enthralled with 4G yet, I monitored my usage a couple of months ago and I spend 90% of
my time on Wi-Fi connections. I really thought I'd use GPS more on the Desire but it is so dang worthless
it is not worth the time. I've started listening to pandora more and more in the car so I'm watching the
usage a bit closer.
I may just go ahead and grab a couple of Mes's today and wait for the other phone to fall off contract so
I don't have to deal with ETF and porting the numbers.
If I had bought the SII and now see the SIII I'd be a bit irked. But the phones are changing so quickly that
if you blink there is bigger and badder out.

Chicago will NEVER get 4G LTE from USCC because they don't own spectrum there. Unless, and until they are able to purchase, trade, or get spectrum, it just will never be possible.
See you in the Tmo or Sprint forum shortly! No 4G = bye bye USC.
I wouldn't be too upset about buying the S2, it's still a great phone and as far as I'm concerned is on par with the S3.
There was an online Fathers Day sale.
GSII for $99 and Electrify for $79
Right... releasing a newer and better phone almost at the exact same time the other major providers screws existing customers? It's what existing customers have been asking for for years! It sucks for you and others but its not like all existing customers have the SII and just got it. It wouldn't make any sense to wait on the S3 to help people what just got the S2 not have to wait as long... I can't believe you think the S3 launch is a bad thing! lol...
I checked out the site twice yesterday, in the morning and late in the evening
and never saw this come up. (Knoxville area)
I would have gone for the SII at $99 a pop, I just can't see $199 with the SIII just around the corner.
Checking today they have dropped to $149 and changed the description on the webpage to read
"Price valid for a limited time only on uscellular.com" which is a change from a couple of days ago
when it was $199 for existing customers.
