How is Wind's recent signal coverage/strength in Calgary?

I am ready to port out my Telus number once the S3 is out. Seriously considering Wind if its signal is good in Calgary.
Thanks for any info in advance.

I've been with them since December, and I've noticed that they've only gotten better. I live in the SE(auburn, cranston area) They improved the signal there. For the most part you get around 90% but in the downtown there are some dead spots for sure. If you rarely visit downtown then that should not be a problem. I don't visit the NW sector much but I've gone as far as nose hill to visit a few friends and still good coverage. I use the nexus s. Like I said it's not perfect like the big 3, but if you are OK with 85-90% coverage then enjoy the savings

Signal strength has gotten a bit better overall, but there aren't significant improvements in the last couple of months. Have been with them for 1.5 years now and I would say as long as you can have your phone 90-95% of the time and can live with slower data, I would recommend it for the cost savings. Aspen Woods / West part of Signal Hill is still a dead zone, Lake Bonavista is still spotty, some parts of downtown (especially inside tall buildings with similarly tall buildings around it) can be pretty spotty as well. I've had my phone basically in every neighborhood over this time and haven't had any major issues. I find the signal is better than Mobilicity overall, there are areas that are stronger than Rogers and areas where it is weaker, and worse than Telus/Bell. For $35 unlimited everything, it's decent enough.

I'm everywhere in the city daily and am quite happy with the coverage and also out to Chestermere. It is far from perfect but I am very happy with them.

Thanks all for the info. Sounds like the signal/coverage is good enough for my use. What kind of data speed do you guys get? That will be my prime use of the S3.

well I guess it depends where you are at. For the most part I can surf the web, look at facebook app, read twitter just fine. It's not blazing fast but it takes a few more seconds for something to load compared to Rogers. YouTube is sometimes a hit or miss. There are times where I can watch it no problem, however there are times where it takes 20-30 seconds for the video to load then no problems after that. Most of my data usage is just surfing and twitter, so I do not know how media heavy usage is like.

I'm not in Calgary, but wanted to chime in on my data experience.

Like other posters, I use data for surfing, Facebook, Google play apps and whatsapp. No issues!

The odd time (when home internet is down or on the road), I turn on hotspot to use Netflix on TV/iPad and use data on my wife's iPhone. 99% of the time, no issues/buffering (including Hd ). It all depends on where you are using it. Wind has 30 minutes or 14 day return policy on voice. Don't know if they have anything for data.

For the curious souls, I'm in NE GTA, just north of the northern most tower.

I mostly use the net to read news, map navigation and watch Youtube. IF wind's data speed is no less than Mobilicity, then it's good for me.
I live in Calgary SE and work at Downtown. Occationally go to other area of the city. The usual data speed I get from Mobilicity is around 1.5MB and I use about 100MB per day.

Speed wise, I generally get 3.5 to 4.5Mbps in most areas I frequent. Up is better than it used to be in some areas anyway. Getting around 0.8Mbps lately on average.

Coverage is pretty good, but there are a few areas in the sw that are a little weak for sure. Also, Crossiron Mills had no coverage. Yeah I know it's not technically in Calgary, but it's my major annoyance...

Thanks all for the quick replies. I will give it a go with Wind. Hopefully they have the pebble blue S3 in stock on Jun 27...if Samsung doesn't postpone again the S3 in Canada

I've been with WIND for a year in Vancouver and the coverage isn't bad. Kinda spotty in low people count area. I moved back to Calgary October last year and stayed with WIND. The coverage is much better then Vancouver. The new development area on the edges of Calgary are kinda spotty but overall very satisfied with downtown coverage since I work there. Data speed have been phenomenal for me because I'm getting speed of 2.1 to 4 mbps with my LG optimus.
