HSPA+ DL speeds beating out VZW LTE in and vise-versa in latest PCMag testing

I'm using both network in long beach and I will say Verizon is hands down the faster and more consistent network. I'm not using tmobile's 42 hspa network, but I expect better and more consistent speeds on my unlocked galaxy nexus.

Getting edge like speed all around long beach is completely pathetic! Vegas is even worst, I couldn't even load up a web page 4am in morning. Getting gprs in 2012? Really T-Mobile?

That's funny, i was in LA last week and pulled 15Mbps down pretty much everywhere (i think i went as low as 5Mbps once) and everytime we go to vegas, i'm consistently at least 8Mbps even on the strip..

i smell something fishy here.

I was in Vegas this last weekend, my phone worked great on Tmobile. Same for Los Angeles

That's great, but if they actually came up here to NorCal (No, I don't consider SF true NorCal) and to the rest of CA and the west, they would find most of T-Mobile's network (I'm talking geographical here, not POPS) is still GPRS and EDGE. Up here, my family just took their several lines to AT&T because of the poor coverage in Northwestern California, as well as the complete lack of 3G. I can't believe they only drove on a TINY part of the highways in the west, covering very little of the actual west and can come out and make that statement. Up here, AT&T has HSPA+ and HSPA+ w/EB, Verizon has EVDO and U.S. Cellular is all EVDO as well, while T-Mobile and Metro PCS remain 2G, add to that the fact Verizon is rolling out LTE up here this year, with U.S. Cellular (and hopefully AT&T too) will have it here in 2013, T-Mobile's really fell behind. Now, before you get all huffy kies and accuse me of T-Mobile bashing, well, I'm just reporting it how it is up here, I'm glad it's great where you are, I really am, and I wish T-Mobile the best, if they had made an actual attempt to fix their coverage here, had 3G and their customer service wasn't going downhill they'd still have us as customers.

Antenna, I can tell you I'd probably be with T-Mobile in L.A. or Vegas, I agree where T-Mobile is strong they are VERY strong, but unfortunately they aren't too strong in a lot of NorCal.

How do you know he is lying? I'm sure he's just reporting things as he experienced them, not everyone will have the same results, even with the same phones in the same area.

I thought Tmobile roamed on AT&T for voice in your market. And if that's the case, and your family mostly uses voice/texts, I would think they would save a lot more with Tmobile, but to each their own I guess......

Exactly! Just reporting what I see in downtown lb, which is usually 1000+ ping times and about 75-300 kbps. In Vegas I usually stay at the planet Hollywood and it's even worst.

In times square, I've been to spots on a Friday night with horrible pings and speeds, yet a block away and I'm fine. Try the internet2.voicestream.com next time you get crummy speeds and pings. That apn can get completely different quality than the epc. It's not used as much.
