I’d like to see if anyone has any suggestions for a new smartphone that I can get that can be activated on PP. I went to my local Bestbuy and saw 2 models: the Samsung illusion and the moto citrus. Both were $150 and they were Verizon inpulse phones. I checked some reviews and I think the Samsung is higher rated. I want to be able to keep my pp # and utilize the smartphone’s wifi access for web surfing on the run. I’m not sure if the above models would work on PP, although I think all Inpulse phones are able to work. Thanks!

Yes, he is sure. Vzw prepaid phones can't be used on PPC because the prices are subsidized by Vzw, and Vzw won't allow them. This has been discussed in detail over the last several years on HoFo.
To answer your question, the "Cheapest new smartphone to use on PP", is Palm Pixi Plus. The price has ranged from $25 up to $50 delivered over the past year. More recently it has been closer to $50, probably (just a guess) because the supply is finally dwindling. However, it is currently (at this moment) $40.99 delivered at Newegg.

Thanks, Boz. Anything with a touch screen? I'm sure the price will rise correspondingly.![]()
Another option is the HTC Touch Diamond on eBay new for $50.
I've acquired 5 Motorola droid's used off ebay for south of $50 (most around $35). Some come with the accessories too; consider used... all those top of the line 2010 smart phones are coming off contract and tons of people ditch them on ebay for cheap.
Thanks for the suggestions. Right now, it's between the palm pixi vs the htc. The HTC screen is 2.8 vs. 2.6 for the pixi. It seems that the screen should be a lot bigger for the HTC since it doesn't have a keyboard. That keyboard could be helpful when wifi surfing. Decisions...
Unless you want cheap phone, I would not recommend Plam pixi plus.
I am using plam pixi plus with pp but more and more think about it. It is just simple feature phone.
If you willing to pay less then $150, visit cowboom to select used phone.
Some of them are not include charger and extra stuff so read carefully.
For a whopping $60 plus tax you can get a used HTC incredible (3.7" screen) and be with a top line operating system (android), or $69 for a Droid 2, or $80 for a Droid X. Is it imperative to have the dirt cheapest "smart phone" if its a sort of dead platform?
Someone will flame me for knocking the pixi againI almost went that route but decided to spend a few more bucks for android
Now I'm so much cooler than when I was rocking my dinged up samsung flip a few months ago. Way cooler.
Droid X / Droid 2 Global / Incredible
