I know with tracfones they require the esn to port out. Net10 should be similar. If you have Boyd net10 unlimited it might require something else. Sim number maybe.

I have loved my Net10 experience, but budget is tight and I need better data and an Android, and saving $15 a month by moving to Virgin is the best option for me now. But I need to keep my number.
What info do I need to give Virgin (as far as what is my account number and things like that) in order to make the porting process go smoother?

trying to come up with better signature.......
what an absolute nightmare......I did not think it was possible for a company to have worse customer service than Frontier Communications.....congrats Net10....you accomplished it!!!! After having to sit through 3 minutes of nothing but menus to try to get to the right department, and 10 minutes on hold before I actually spoke to a human....I am told that Net10 does not use passwords....I explained that I HAD to have one to port my number out, at which point as I was hung up on.....back to calling them again, same crappy menus, same hold, hung up on again....third time, I am told the same thing and there is nothing they can do about helping me port the number out.
Anyone have any clue how to do this and can help me?
Don't bother with regular CS. Call the main office at 305-715-6500. You should get a receptionist and be able to tell that it's a U.S. number. Sometimes they bump the call offshore if they're busy, so just call back. You have to call during daytime business hours, however. These people will instruct you how to port to Virgin, I'm pretty sure.
You can leave the password blank.
Yes annepani is correct. The account number is the serial number and the password is the last four of the phone number. I've ported three NET10 numbers out to Verizon and Tmobile. During the VZ port I got a email that NET10 was delaying the port. I responded " Did they want me to contact NET10"? They responded No, They'd take care of it. This is what they do(porting dept). About 4 hours later the port went thru.
I'm not sure about Virgin Mobile or the small companies but the VZ and TMob ports went thru within one day. The last Tmob port went thru in an hour.
I've also ported numbers from Trac with the same experience.
