Thanks. I may be slower to root if I expect an update within a week from now. Nothing yet on XDA for rooting the VZW version.

That's my assessment also. I'm mostly waiting to be sure the S3 development milieu embraces the GN2 neatly, then I'll probably follow suit.
Any thoughts what a nib S3 might fetch as an xmas purchase?

Here's John's comparison review between the DNA and Note 2, just keep in mind the Note 2 used was an AT&T model, but would be similar hardware to the Verizon one (besides the CDMA/radio).

Does Verizon offer an extended battery? Is there a larger capacity battery that will fit the standard back?
