Call Boost. Tell them that you're interested in selling your phone. They'll ask you some questions to make sure the phone is yours and you're not trying to disconnect someone else's phone and they'll terminate the account. After termination you can sell your phone as it'll show up as activatiable again. If you do not call to terminate the account it might take 6 months or more for the ESN to be automatically released by Boost. Good luck.

Yeah. You can do the swap and it'll "deactivate" your current phone.

Get into the account that has the phone that you want to sell. Swap the handset for another boost handset's MEID. You can even find some floating serials around this forum I'm told, just be aware that for the duration till Boost automatically releases the serial that handset will be "bad".

OTOH. Getting hold of a human on Boost is not so hard. Call 866 402 7366, when the machine picks up put in 88. It'll ask for a dealer ID. Put in a random 4 digit number. Wait for human. Once they pick up tell them that you're a customer.

All they'll ask to verify that you're you is the PIN of the account that the phone is on. If you do not know the pin of the account then look up the phone number on the device, go to their website and go to their my account section. Once there you'll see a "forgot pin" link. Click on that, put in the phone number and the pin will be sent to the device that's on the account. Once you know the pin you're set.

    Good luck.

    Two things:

Dialing 88 to reach customer support is not a smart idea. The automated-network will prompt you for your FIVE digit dealer ID. If it doesn't match up with an authorized retailers Door ID, you won't get past the prompts. Also, you're asked for a Dealer ID for a reason. If you aren't a dealer, you have no business trying to act as one.
We have to wait for customer service just like you do. The only difference, is we had to pay a substantial sum of money to become licensed as dealers. You did not. We have a business to run and customers to satisfy, you do not. You can wait like everyone else.

    That minor rant aside...

In your situation, it is best to get ahold of someone at Boost, and ask them to cancel your account.

If you do not cancel. This is how things work:

30 days no payment: Account On-Hold
60 days: Account listed as inactive.
90 days: Account terminated. Phone number released.

If you call boost, tell them you would like to terminate the account on that phone.
You need the phone number attached to that device, and the four digit pin for that account, as was mentioned above.

    nope. still need to call
Putting the phone you want on the service you pay for is not a crime. No one has ever been convicted of it!
No one has ever been convicted of talking about it either!
