    Retention Advice

So, I'm faced with an early upgrade fee of $211 right now, and my phone is crapping out on me.

I'm currently using a BB9780, and hoping to go to a new phone, and fix my data plan.

I called in, did NOT speak to retentions, and was told I would lose my sweet minutes package if I changed my data.

    Currently have

    Unlim Canada/US Call/Txt 24/7 $50
    Blackberry Data Value Pack $35
    Call forwarding/Call Transfer $3
    Call forward/transfer credit -$3
    Better choice bunders 5% -$2.50

    Paying about $84 a month

The data value pack has my call answer/display/etc included but only is 500mb

To go to a better phone, I really want to up that data to 6gb, but was told (again not by retentions) that they no longer offer it.

Also looking to get out of my early upgrade fee. Looking to go either iphone or android.

I want to keep the $50 Canada/US plan, but everything else can change. I don't want to ask for retentions/threaten to cancel until I'm fully informed/prepared.

Any advice on how to proceed?

    Cheers

i doubt they can force u off the $50 plan as it is separate from the data plan (some voice plans have data built in)

the value pack, specific for a blackberry, they will have to get rid of (since data is built in) and offer you standalone data

right now the 6GB for $30 promo plan seems to be back so you can go for that, or any other standard offer
they used to have a $10 value pack which included call display/voicemail/2500 txts but i dunno if they still have it available (this is a retentions value pack, regular CSR can not offer it)

bottom line is you should just ask to talk to customer relations (retentions) as your plan is customer relation specific. Say something about how when you got your plan, the rep told you to always ask to talk to customer relations whenever you have changes to make as only they can do them or something.

What on earth rep think you will lose the voice plan when change the data only.
Unles it was totally a package plan, but according to your post, if it was listed seperately, it shouldn't be.
Amd I saw from another post from retention theard mention there are still unlimited us/can voice. So you might still get it, and switched to 6gb/$30. And try the do the data switching on rogers twitter, they helped me with that, even everyone else from rogers said it was not avaiable.

About early HUP, i don't know your situation, but my personal experience last month,(sorry, May, ) i got almost all early hup fee waived ,( 150 credit and 50rebate, from 208, ended up only pay $8 for early hup), and administration fee waived. But that was before jun 17th, so i don't know the policy for retention now, and how luckyyou get a good retention rep.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I'll get around to getting on the phone with retentions soon. Just been too busy as of late.

I hate having to ask to transfer to retentions and wish there were a direct number. I'll have to get over that feeling I suppose.

It's good to hear the 6gb/$30 plan still exists, so I'll get that added instead of my crumby BB data bundle. Then just add whatever else I need. I can't afford to lose my unlim can/us plan!

Now the the only thing left to do is get my $208 Early HUP reduced to nothing. If I can't make that happen, I'll just be forced to bear the pain of my sad brokeberry for another 10+months.

Just did an early upgrade I to have the $50 unlimited NA plan and did not have to change any thing when I got my new phone. If Rogers has insisted I change plans I would have but with a different carrier. But there was no problem Rogers has been good to me so I am happy to stay and re sign to 2015
