Will AT&T unlock my Iphone 3gs even though I already did and . . .
will doing so make it easy to update to Ios 5, I have 4.3.3. I want to use the phone for a BOYD like Straighttalk. It is also jailbroken. I didn't do any of this myself and find it overwhelming. Should I update the Ios and UNjailbreak the phone for use with Straighttalk or a similar plan? I want to be able to use Whatsapp and would love to be able to have a fully funtioning Iphone (mms included). Thanks.
I love my Iphone, but my daughter's LG g2x is awesome and way faster on Simple Mobile
The official unlock from Apple is permanent and is not based upon a software exploitation. Officially unlocking the phone requires a restore through iTunes. This will undo any jailbroken status. The latest firmware will be installed so you may have to get a different version of the software to jailbreak the phone.
You would have to meet the requirements of AT&T before they will put in the unlocking request to Apple.
I think I will meet the requirements (left in good standing after years of being on contract). Is there a reason to have the phone jailbroken for Straighttalk or otherwise? Any other tips? Thanks.
The operative question is whether you used the iPhone as an AT&T customer. Phones you obtain outside of the upgrade/new customer routes are more difficult to prove eligibility for official unlocking.
