I recently got a new phone on a 1-year term where I agreed to spend at least $50/month. I've come to realize that I don't really like the phone and am looking at purchasing something else outright. The question is, can I sell the phone I got from Telus and activate the other phone on the same line (keeping my agreement to spend $50/month)? Or do I need to wait until the year is up?

Telus doesn't care what you do with that phone. You could have left it in the box and sold it the minute you got it home if you wanted.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

Are you Sure? I thought we weren't allowed to sell the things we own. I always thought I would just have to throw them away or give them away for free, I didn't know we have the right to sell our things.

I was just trying to make sure that there wasn't some legal gotcha cellphone companies use to say you don't actually own the phone until the contract has come to an end. Thanks to the other posters for clarifying things for me.
You don't really even need to "activate the other phone". As long as it's a Telus phone that you purchase outright just take your sim card out of your current phone and put it in the new one. If it is not a Telus phone obviously it will need to be unlocked.
