ZTE Grand X LTE Smartphone Announced

Posted by Alex on June 21, 2012

ZTE, a company that has been churning out quality budget tablets and handsets lately, has introduced a new Android smartphone called the Grand X LTE, which will be launched in Europe and Asia in the third quarter of 2012. The company had earlier entered the tablet market with the Optik tablet and Metro PCS’ Score.

The Grand X LTE works on a single MSM8960 chip which integrates an LTE radio chip, making the device more energy efficient and faster than devices which feature separate radio chips. However, a single look at the picture of the device and you could confuse it with the HTC One X from the front and a Samsung on the back. The smartphones comes with a battery of 1900 mAH, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, Wi-Fi connectivity and an 8 megapixel camera, with features like zoom, auto focus, geo tagging and recording videos in 1080p HD. The camera on the front will allow video calling at 720p resolution.

Europe and Asia in the 3rd quarter. Perhaps U.S. in the 4th quarter?

We've been talking about this phone since last August (2011). If this is the same phone, specs have changed at least twice.

Your creed may be interesting, but your deeds are much more convincing.

    4.3" screen. 560x960

As you always take the lowest number, it's 560p resolution -- not HD, as in 720p or 1080p. (In comparison, the 4.3" LG Esteem is 480x800.)

This is specs of the European version. IF MetroPCS ever got it, it would be LTE + CDMA. Not HSPA or GSM.

    Oh, look at THIS:

Halfway downs thes screen, see the CDMA + LTE mode? Hmmmmmm...

    Anyway, pics are from here:

Specs are awesome. But I wouldn't leave my Connect for this. It would be an upgrade, but not an upgrade worth the cash... Anyways, Step it up Metro, you are sucking right now!

    1) But at the same time FOR A YEAR NOW, MetroPCS has been negotiating a "high end" LTE phone from ZTE. (at least high end for Metro).

See the links up at the top of this thread, from months ago where there were pictures and specs posted. Specs have changed at least twice. The code name was ZTE "Arthur", but of course that was not going to be the retail model name.

That phone has never shown up in Metro's inventory, and now here's an LTE phone from ZTE.

    2) You see one on of the pictures there ARE testing a CDMA + LTE mode, which would mean the phone would work with Verizon, Sprint, Cricket, MetroPCS.
