PP Coverage vs Verizon Prepaid Coverage

I am a long time user of Page Plus Cellular and have four accounts. I am hoping to set up an account for my sister in North Dakota but I notice a difference between the PP coverage map and the Verizon prepaid coverage map. I am specifically looking at the area near Drake, ND, where The Verizon prepaid map shows it is covered and the PP map shows it is roaming.

Does anyone have any knowledge or information about the difference between these two maps?

    Thanks,
    John

Coverage maps are fine but theres no substitute for real world trial. Why not just get her a cheapo phone on PPC and see how it works? Its a few $$$ experiment that would answer a lot of questions. Different phones get different reception so maybe just spring for the phone she really wants and try it on a standard plan before porting any numbers.

The first idea that occurred to me was a test with a simple phone.

Anyone have any experience with the coverage maps?

While on a long road trip this spring, I discovered that the PagePlus map is pretty close to reality. Verizon native coverage is the only guaranteed areas to not be roaming on PagePlus. I agree with your thought to test with a simple phone. It is the only way to know for sure.

If you do this, please report back. It would be interesting to know if the PPC map or the Vzw prepaid map more closely reflects the PPC non-roaming coverage. Thanks!

I always tell folks to activate a cheap phone and do a network test FIRST. Despite Verizon's great coverage there ARE several pockets of "Roaming" and Page Plus charges for that, not to mention the annoying "double-dial" ...

If I do a test with an inexpensive phone, or by mailing her one of our phones for a trail, I will post back here with the results.
