    Jail Broke iPhone 3GS

I have a iPhone 3GS At&T version and got it from a family friend and was already in a contract with T-Mobile so I had no other option(at the time in January) to jailbreak the device and then put the iPad baseband on it so I could unlock the device. Fast forward several months and now At&T now unlocks out of contract iPhones and there was a reversal of baseband to 05.13.04 I'm assuming it's a normal iPhone baseband but when I connect it into iTunes to update because I'm only on 5.0.1 right now it says it failed to update. My question is how would I go about updating out of the jailbreak and also to a new version of IOS 5?

You can't restore to 5.0.1 without stitching SHSH blobs, you must restore to 5.1.1

Is it currently on 05.13.04 BB, and when trying to update to 5.1.1, it fails? It shouldn't have a problem updating using stock IPSW after the baseband downgrade.

Did you get the ATT carrier unlock or do you need to jailbreak again to unlock using 05.13.04?

No, I had it carrier unlocked a month or two ago right after they announced they were doing so then I realized I couldn't restore my phone like they were saying because of my phone having the iPad baseband on it. When I tried to update it in iTunes it said the update failed a few seconds after starting it. And Im trying to get the newest version of IOS 5 right now so I can have full functionality of Pages & Keynote so when I have to use it for school.

Would reseting the phone from the phone itself remove all the jailbreak software and put it on the normal IOS version its currently on so that I could then plug it in or update over wifi from the phone?

You need to downgrade from iPad baseband first, then restore to stock 5.1.1

I already downgraded a few days ago and now it won't let me restore and update to stock IOS. the phone still works its just hell bent on erasing the jailbreak software through iTunes or throughout the reset in the phone.

Try DFU mode, or force restore mode? Try reinstalling iTunes? Did you run TinyUmbrella recently and it messed up your hosts file?

No I haven't used TinyUmbrella, It gave me this link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275, which doesn't give much information. Last time I had to restore the iTunes on my computer it was useless, I had to take it to the apple store after it was slightly bricked and they had to restore it on their macbook air of all things yet my macbook pro couldn't restore it I don't know why my computer couldn't restore the iPhone when theirs could so I'm starting to think I'm going to have to make a trip their in the next week which is fine I'm wanting to look at the new retina macbook.

Have them fix the MBP, likely it is not the phone, but the computer.

Yeah I think it's the computer IDK what would make it not want to function properly unless I accidentally changed a setting and didn't realize but I'm good at not messing with things I'm not sure about.
