Wow, that's pretty fast. The fastest I ever got was ~6Mbps sitting at the dentist.
I usually get ~2Mbps in North York and Scarborough without fail. I wonder if the SIM does make any difference.
I called in once about my crap speeds after my friend and I compared our speeds side by side both on Rogers and on my Galaxy Nexus I got 2Mbps and on his unlocked Telus SGSII on Rogers got 6Mbps. The Rogers guy said he didn't think it would make a difference but I was more than welcome to go out and buy a SIM for $10 to try it...*******.
Coincidence? Upgrades? Enhancements to the network. I doubt the LTE SIMs have any special HSPA provisioning that could trigger faster HSPA speeds. I've gotten those speeds on a TELUS non-LTE MicroSIM as well, heck I've hit 10mbit.
That screenshot I took was last Dec, it was in the Scarborough / Markham area on a non-LTE plan.
I've tried various spots around the city and only that area performs the best (from my testing of course), but I can never get past 9.6Mbps and the average is 8Mbps.
I've even tested at Rogers Head Office, didn't even get any good results. LOL
Theoretically Rogers HSPA+ can push 21Mbps; but I haven't even seen nor heard anyone pass the 50% mark, even if their phones supports 21Mbps.
