Nexus S data roaming charges revisited

So I had to log into my gf's mobilicity account to have a look for her anniversary date because I want her to switch from 12 MM to monthly, and I noticed a lot of roaming data charges. Of course, I've already complained once and got some charges reversed, but they told me it was a one time thing.

Well the thing is, their system is so crappy Im not about to go through all the intervening months to determine whats valid and what's not, but total mywallet charges are about $60 or so.

So I hope somebody can pipe up with some solutions to any or all of:

    1) WCDMA only setting in *#*# doesn't stick past a reboot
    2) Data while roaming setting doesn't prevent GPRS data charges

The last time I checked, you cannot tell mobilicity to turn off data while roaming at their end either.

I'm really not happy that this is still going on, and I know that she isn't doing anything to cause this.

So anyone have any solutions? Keeping 0 in mywallet isnt really a solution because she still wants and needs to roam voice/text.

    bluenote, try this:

Press *#*#4636#*#* --> Phone Info and then select "WCDMA Only" instead of "WCDMA Preferred"
Now press *#*#2263#*#* --> "WCDMA Band Preference", and then select "WCDMA 1700"

If it doesnt work, download data controller app from market

    Hey xtach

I have changed her to 'wcdma only' but that setting does not stick after a reboot.
I haven't changed the band, but I will try that.

Any suggestions on retaining that setting?

Also, I did a little market surfing and didn't find too many likely candidates. Many mentioned they cannot work on ICS.
You don't happen to have a specific recommendation from experience do you?

    thanks

I heard that it doesnt stick without the band preference.

I'm using the nexus s and have not had any strange wallet charges yet...don't bother with those settings anymore since they made roaming sms free...

I used to get my wallet drained by these phantom GPRS charges. I solved it by Turning off data (mobile data off) when you are roaming or will get spotty coverage. So I basically can roam on rogers network without fear of my wallet draining unless I recieve/send out calls etc.

    bluenote, try this:<br />

    This doesn't do anything?

The 2263 code doesn't work on the S, but it does work on the Vibrant

I wrote a little task with tasker so anytime network is not mobilicity then disable data, hopefully this will work.
