I logged in to my account this morning looking for a OtterBox Defender case. (Samsung Galaxy S II) Looking closely at the OtterBox Defender case on USCC site the phone has a AT$T logo..
I thought it was/is kind of funny..

i think advertisements are based on your pc cache, and the sites you visited.. not actual ads that pay USC.. i know thats not true for all sites, but i think most sites use google adsense or similar to provide some $$ to cover hosting costs, bandwidth, etc... thats my opinion though
