Help me with my Verizon headache please....

So, last Sunday I decided to get 2 Droid Razr Maxx's, one for me and one for my wife so we could keep unlimited data. We only each use 1GB of data a month if that, but it seems crazy to pay $30.00 a month for 2GB when I can pay $30.00 a month for unlimited. The only problem is that my upgrade is not due until July 3rd. I have a friend that works at a Verizon store and he said a Verizon store will usually give you an early upgrade 7 days early. Then I have read on here many people that have gotten and early upgrade by calling Verizon.

Last Sunday (June 17) ended the Verizon $100.00 off most 4g LTE Smartphones so my wife went to the Verizon store to get our two phones. They wouldn't give her an early upgrade and they also wouldn't let her keep her unlimited data, so she didn't get the phones. When I got home that night I tried to order them online, but customer service was closed and I was told I would need to talk to someone in customer service to get an early upgrade. It seems before I have often ordered phones late at night but maybe they close early on Sunday.

On Monday June 18th, I went to order the phones and they said I could have the early upgrade but now of course the Maxx had gone up to $300.00. I didn't want to pay $200.00 more when the day before they were $100.00 off each. They asked me if there was another phone I wanted and I was pretty much set on getting the Maxx so I didn't get anything. Last week, after doing a lot of reading, I decided I would get the Galaxy III. I even seem to like it better then the Maxx now. I decided to wait until today, to see if any pohones went on sale or if any new phones came out. So today I called to order 2 Galaxy III's. They gave me the early upgrade but said I could not order that phone on an early upgrade because it wasn't out yet, but my wife could order one. I said I have read about 100's of people that have a later date then mine that have ordered them, but no dice.

I guess I will try calling back and seeing if I can get a nicer Verizon manager, but this is just really pissing me off. They said I could get an early upgrade for any phone except the Galaxy III. I'm guessing this is because so many people are buying them. I have a Droid X right now that works fine, except the battery is pretty weak now. I really think the Droid X is too big and the Maxx and the Galaxy are even bigger. I had always planned on getting an iphone when they came to Verizon, but its seems dumb to get a non 4g phone and to get an iphone when the new iphone are coming out soon. There just doesn't seem to be any good smaller smartphones. I don't like to wear my phone on my belt, I like to keep it in my pocket.

Looking for some advice or a different verizon number I might call.

My advice is take the Razr Maxx, after all they're offering you a waiver to upgrade early. My son just went through the same thing and was told, he had to take a LTE phone and the SGIII was not an available option for the early upgrade. So you're not being told anything different than anyone else.

I'm in the same scenario as you. I'm trying to get an early upgrade on one of my lines. They actually granted an early upgrade for me on the line which is supposed to be in September. They said I can use it on any phone except the GS3 and an iPhone.

I hate the large size of all the current 4G Androids, too. I was shocked at the size of the phones when I went into the store last week. Not everyone has big hands and thick, meaty fingers, but I'm guessing 100% of the engineers that design these phones are men and can't see beyond their own needs.

Men that can't see beyond their own needs? Haha. Nothing to do with the additional hardware required to house 4G chipsets. Perhaps we could classify you as an ignorant woman? Or would that be unfair?

Well I thought it was funny. LTE does stand for Large Telescoping Effect.

Since we're already completely off-topic, don't be run off by that kid. He probably thought you were a guy, since your handle is "kreepykeith". Hope that's not a stalker-ex?

Anyway, yes, I know more than a few women (skinny geek women at work, mostly) who drool over all the things I can do with my Rezound running a custom ROM. Then they want to hold it, try putting it in their pocket, then say no dice. I have the extended battery and a case on it, so it's not exactly pocketable to a girl wearing skinny jeans. And all the small Androids are cheap LG suckfests, so I completely understand your frustration with the Android lineup.

That being said, I don't think it's so much that men are involved as it is what the market demands. Everyone wants bigger screens, more capability, and with that comes larger form-factors and more chips inside. My iPhone is great, for what I do with it, but if I had to pick one and only one phone, it'd have to be some kind of 4G LTE Android. I really want to sell my iPhone and pick up a GSIII, but boy, even I think it's a little on the big side!

But for now, if you want top of the line and all the options, it's either stubby and fat or thin and long. And yes, I mean cell phones.

I like smaller phones but I guess it's a trade off. Some of the new phones are monsters

Actually there's quite a demand for phones with the larger screen size. However I have noticed that the higher end phones all have the larger screens while the lower to middle range phones have smaller screens. That might be some of the appeal of the iPhone to women. Then again my gf just upgraded to a SGII a while back and loves the larger screensize.

This picture impressed me. Of course, it is designed to.
