The SII sold 24mil in around 16 months. This has reached 1/2 of that in just over 1 month ... there's a major demand for this amazing device... more than even Samsung expected.

Wind would RECOUP maybe $100 total from you, and the other $550 would go back to Samsung via a Purchase Order (aka an IOU).
You see, Wind will PURCHASE the device (and usually at a loss) and sell to you. Don't think Wind is making fist fulls of cash on a single device. Only Apple does that!

Wind is not making a loss on selling phones outright, in fact with their inflated outright price they are making a fistful of cash. Plus, there is an opportunity cost to having a customer buy a device somewhere else, and that is the future ability to get additional volume discounts.

You said it yourself! It's the most anticipated Android phone of this year! We were on the edge of our seats, cash in-hand, just to be slapped in the face.

Uhhh, right. And product shortages never occur, hmm? Every carrier is anticipating shortages. Calm down.

Wind could have handled it differently - when I preregistered they made it seem like I could expect to get a phone, because they said I had to preregister if I wanted one. Now they're saying I can't, and not giving me any information at all on when I can expect to get one. All they're doing is handing us some BS about an 'exclusive' deal and not even saying what that is.

It's not the fact that there is a product shortage - which was completely expected - it was the fact they allowed me to preregister to 'reserve' one.

Why is everyone so up-in arms about this again? They're going to make it up to you. Last time on the Bold 9780 it was a $50 hardware discount. I can't remember if it applied to tab purchases too of an instant in store savings... I wasn't interested in a BB ever. But I do recall the inventory mess up and shortages during this time for that device.
