    Switching phone number?

Will Fido allow you to switch/port your number mid contract?

I've had my home phone number for 20 years. I use Vonage for my home. I hardly use my home phone and the people that have my cell number have know my home number forever. I'm thinking of cancelling Vonage but don't want to loose my home number. Is it possible to transfer my home number onto my Fido phone and get rid of the cell number?

    Thanks

Call Fido tell them you would like to port a number in over your current number and they will do it. It's better to do it close or on your closing date because I think they will prorate your mins between the two numbers as they would for a normal CTN change.

By closing date, you're talking about the billing period date, right?

Hey hi! Fido allows you to port in a number at any point during your contract.

Note that when porting a number minutes are not split between the old and new number unlike a number change. However you will find partial charges under both numbers(a credit under the old number and charge under the new number [ported number]) on your next invoice. It will represent the portion of the billing cycle the service was active under each number.
Also note that there is no fee for porting in a number to Fido and that its status can be checked via our automated voice system by calling *611.
If you have voicemail service note that upon completion of the port request you will lose your messages and it will be reset, it is therefore a good idea to take all your voice messages prior to requesting it.

Let me know if you have questions.
