    Suggestions on buying/unlocking iPhone 3G or 3GS for T-Mobile.

My sister has a summer job and would like to purchase a refurbished iPhone 3G or 3GS from Gamestop soon.

They go for $130, $179 on AT&T's version.

She would however like to use it on T-Mobile instead especially on their Monthly4G plans. We already know that if the 3G or the 3GS works on T-Mobile at all it will be GPRS/EDGE.

My question is, how easy is the iPhone 3G or 3GS to unlock? And where would we begin?

I used the search feature on this forum but 'iPhone 3G unlock' only brings up really different topics.

Your best bet is to purchase a factory unlock from a reputable seller on eBay.

And I would also advise to at least get an iPhone 4. Definitely not an iPhone 3G, since they're no longer supported with software updates, and iPhone 3GS, even though it'll get iOS 6, it's just too old and outdated hardware-wise at this point.

    XFF's AlphaTag software
    Cellular and PCS License Maps

There is also other prepaid carriers you can choose from that are prepaid like goredpocket mobile, h2o etc. Just got to search around.

I personally have goredpocket, i would recommend it because they basically run on att and provide 3g and 4g speeds depending on your device.

Only thing you have to do is jailbreak it so you can adjust the APN to get MMS working, unless its unlocked.

People can use iPhone on the T-Mobile network but in parochial to torrent. The 3G band of T-mobile has uncommon frequency which is different from the AT&T and it does not support it. With the help of data plan for our mytouch, it should run well. People need jailbreak the phone to unlock phone and 3G & 3GS both be jailbroken.
