^ I don't see how that comment is relevant, considering the following:
No Playbook can upgrade current on-board storage: there is no SD/MicroSD slot.
Both devices (as well as many with fixed storage), regardless of their platform, can use SugarSync, Box.net, or DropBox to file swap ... and DropBox is quite good as at what it does.

Having limited/fixed storage keeps end users from 'hoarding' files with them, limiting corruption of those files (think of your Windows/Linux/older than Tiger OSX machine with NO on-board OS backup solution). Too many ppl forget about backing up their data (on their desktop/laptop, and more so on their smartphone/tablet). The convenience of having such great battery life in a easily portable computing platform will cause more to be forgetful about backing up data. Dropbox and similar cloud solutions negate this - especially if you have that service backup to your Personal Computer.

The real issue comes down to the end users' preference for a particular platform - I don't just mean the OS on the device itself. I mean the OS, the accessories, the services offered by the vendor or OS vendor, applications (yes many are cross-platform but feature sets/UI's and ease of use varies), and well their friends use of the same platforms = familiarity/influence of social inner-circle. I know because I'm on the fence WAITING for iOS6 to get released (good improvements beyond what was mentioned: little refinements are good) on NEW hardware (which is UNKNOWN) or do I purchase a Galaxy Nexus and load JellyBean ??
Apps like "SP Lite" on iOS is not directly available on iOS, but many similar apps offer the same features just different approaches - so I need to UNLEARN what I'm used to - that is hard with so much work, and little personal time in my day to day to waste a month to adjust. There is so much more than that but you get the drift.

I'm VERY shocked that a 3G/LTE connection was not included in this Nexus 7 ... that would've been PERFECT ... considering the Samsung Tab 7.0 is getting long in the tooth.

I see no where in my post that I said the PB had a slot for an SD. However, my point was, I find it quite silly to offer this in 8 and 16 gb flavours only, and no slot. The 16 gig is $249, while my 16 gig PB was $199.

I was just surprised by the lack of a card slot, that's all.

Definitely going to pick one up. The lack of a SD card slot was a bother but using USB OTG is easy enough.

I wasn't going to get one but may rethink that now that VLC is in beta for Android.

The lack of SD card slot is a bother though. USB OTG works fine but, having something sticking out of my tablet ruins the form factor. Plus I don't like to pay extra for more built-in storage.

I have read that this tablet won't have flash. Does this mean it won't run a netflix app? Will VLC beta work?

The netflix app should work fine. Lack of flash will mainly effect certain content on websites for most people.

Ah, thank you, Phone-Guy, for the info. I have read too many horror stories of Netflix not working on the average MID tablet.

Good luck with that. A significantly worse screen (Nexus 7 has 26% more pixels per inch). Heavier. Slower. Huge paucity of apps. Pricier (everybody forgets the $25 credit Google is giving with the device).

The Playbook is only good if you have a BB and you sync. Otherwise, it's substantially worse than the Nexus 7 on all but a few points (like microSD).

I pre-ordered the day of the announcement. I can't wait for it to show up. This kind of eagerness is starting to ruin my summer...
I see that Staples.ca says on their website that it will be available on July 23rd. I hope Google gets it out before then. Bestbuy.ca says they expect it in their warehouse on July 10th, (that's today) I hope it ships out then (now).

Best Buy has it showing available August 10th not July. (the 8th month is August)

Oops. You're right. I guess my eagerness is blinding me a bit.

That's okay. I ordered from Google and I keep checking for the mail when I hear any noise outside.

Got the email 3 days ago and watching the tracking is driving me nuts! Kentucky to Cincinnati to outside Toledo. Estimated delivery is 4 days from now (Toronto). ARGH!! I could have been there and back on day one.
For someone who pre-ordered this is pretty frustrating!
