You can update your Galaxy Nexus to OS 4.1 Jelly Bean now

Jelly Bean was only released to the world yesterday, and in preview form to boot, but that hasn’t stopped the developers at XDA-Developers from creating rooted versions of the stock firmware to flash on your Galaxy Nexus.

If you’re running such a device — the yakju or yakjux models will do — you can merely head over to XDA-Developers and flash one of the several stock, deodexed, rooted ROMs available for download.

So far, Android 4.1 Jellybean has been an amazing upgrade from Ice Cream Sandwich. The sheer speed increase is worth the update alone, but Google Now (which we’ll be doing an intensive preview of in the coming days) and the improved notification centre, are added bonuses.

Head over to XDA-Developers for all the details.
I'm about to flash a 4.1 rom tonight. Has anyone else done this already? If so, has this resolved the data disconnect issue?

Just flashed what's floating around.. the "preview" build if you will, including the new radio.

So far, I'm loving it. Previously I wanted to kill my phone and/or WIND. I'll see how it fares over the next few days.

I had no data disconnect issue with UGLC1 on CM9. I'm not sure about this build, because I'm not on WIND at the moment, but I can't imagine they've regressed back to a broken state.

The UI is a lot smoother now. I haven't played around with much else though.

If you're on 4.0.2, you don't get updates from Google.

Is there anybody using Bell/Virgin galaxy nexus who got this JB update? I'm already rooted and using AOKP 4.0.4 and just wondering if unroot it and flash the original rom back on it will I receive the OTA update to 4.1.

For Canadian phones, it's Samsung that is responsible for updates.

No, the official OTA update won't come until mid July (at the earliest, probably later for Canadian phones), this is people using various methods to get the developer preview installed.

And if you're already running a custom ROM, then you know how to flash it

I have flashed the Jelly Bean rom (and rooted it).

I AM HAPPY TO FINALLY ANNOUNCE NO MORE DATA DISCONNECTS!!! YEAH!!!!!

I'm very happy with Jelly Bean, it is soo much smoother/faster than ICS. Google has done a great job!

Those of you still on 4.0.4 or earlier, its time to upgrade.. seriously, you won't regret!

I just can't wait for the AOKP people to incorporate this in a new build as there are a few minor features that I'm missing from AOKP., but I can wait for AOKP.

I was coming from AOKP 4.0.4 (Milestone 5) with a Bell Galaxy Nexus. Nevermind waiting for OTA. Just flash it and be happy.

Thanks. I'm a bit confused though which one to get. Any recommendations??

[ROM][CWM] Jellybean 4.1 JRN84D Stock, Rooted, Busybox, Deodexed + New Radio!

    OR

[ROM][4.1] Jelly Belly!!! w/ AwesomeBeats™ Nothin But Butter!!!!

To be honest, I'm a newbie when it comes to rooting and flashing. I couldn't even make sense of the JB4.1 JRN84D thread until another poster at XDA helped me out.

I will wait for the OTA update .... I am not too fond sp? for CWM flashing and using a "preview" build .... I will wait until I get the file from the code.google.com site and do it the normal way like the 4.0.4 method!
