Windows Phone Tango Updates for Nokia 710 and 900

I have seen articles saying that the Tango update has been released for Rogers customers who have the Nokia Lumia 710 and 900 Windows phones. I own four such phones but I have not received a notification from Rogers on my phone telling me that the update is available, nor is it available through the Windows Phone 7 Connector on my Mac. Am I the only one who can't get the updates? Does anyone know how I can get them? Thanks.

I actually called Rogers tech support and they directed me to Nokia. Nokia told me that they are staggering roll-out by product code and that it might take upwards of a month to get Tango out to everyone.

I would be interested in knowing if anyone with a Rogers Lumia 900 gets their update as presumably they would all be of the same product code. Unless there is a way to alter the code of the phone or otherwise trick Zune into thinking you have a different code.

Thanks for the info. There's a way to update to tango manually but I don't think I'm gonna go this route. Here's the link for those interested: http://www.wpcentral.com/cant-wait-w...do-it-yourself

Thanks lidyo23! It worked! I got the first update to 7.10.8112.7, installed it but then had trouble getting 7.10.8773.98. I had to reboot the phone then connect to zune again and do the "trick" and then 8773 came in! Thanks again!!

Edit: After 8773 installed I got the Nokia firmware update automatically to 1600.3031.8773.12121 after my phone rebooted.

Not working for me. No idea what I'm not doing right. Guess I have to wait until it comes out as intended.

    No problem..

MobileMuck, try to go to phone info screen while your computer is checking for the update.. Also follow all the instruction.. It took me a few tries before I got either update

Thanks lidyo23 for the encouragement. I was able to force the update today. For those still stuck waiting, here's how I did it, based on readings here and (mainly) wpcentral.com:

    1) put phone on airplane mode -- WiFi and cellular data disabled
    2) disable WiFi on PC/laptop
    3) connect to PC/laptop via ethernet cable
    4) connect to Zune, allow connection to phone
    5) click on "Phone", then "Settings"
    6) click on "Update", and about 1 second after the search for update starts yank out ethernet cable
    7) phone displays that update is available if you have timed it right (I assumed it would be the PC informing you but it was the phone itself)
    8) reconnect ethernet cable to PC/laptop
    9) perform Zune "Update" again and you'll see the update to 8112
    10) follow the 10 step on-screen update process for 8112
    11) the last step of 8112 update is a scan for further updates which will find 8773
    12) follow the 9 step on-screen update process for 8773 (you don't have to "force" this update)
    13) you're done -- the whole process probably takes 50-55 minutes

So there you have it. Happy updating to those who don't want to wait for the natural roll-out to reach them.

The update to 8773 fixed my bluetooth issues! I was having a problem when it connects to my car and I was on a call it would lose the bluetooth connection after about 15 mins and, but it wouldn't end the call. I would then have to tap on bluetooth on the phone to reconnect it.

From what I've read the update was always intended to be a 3-part process -- 2 OS updates (8107-->8112 and then 8112 -->8773) from Microsoft and a firmware update from Nokia and Nokia wasn't going to roll any of them out until all 3 were ready.

I can see on Navifirm that the 8773 firmware update is available now for Rogers Lumia 710 (the firmware version is 1600.3030.8773.12120) which is why you're likely seeing the notification now. There is still no 8773 firmware for the Rogers Lumia 900 on Navifirm. I'm still on the 8107 firmware. I used the "force" trick to get the OS updates but obviously that didn't include the firmware. It is the firmware that is supposed to fix the purple screen issue.

The problem is it took this long for me to get the notification for the 8112 firmware...I hadn't done anything to my Lumia 710 so this is as stock as it gets. Pretty slow considering a lot of people have had it for a month now lol.

Ahh nevermind guys. As soon as the 8112 update was complete, the 8773 update was automatically pushed (didn't even need to do the 'trick'). Also, internet sharing is included! This was all done through Zune and not through Nokia Suite. Just stock Rogers firmware.
