If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??
Sarcasm is a fine art...

It's not a matter of if you win or lose, it's how you assign the blame
It will worked locked. You do have to do a little configuring to get MMS and data running, but the how-to stuff on this site give you all the details needed.
The only thing that ST doesn't support is Visual Voicemail. Your voicemail goes back to a standard dial-in to retrieve.

Works like a charm... and it is well worth it in my opinion.
Craigs list 75.00, that's were I got mine, just got to shop..Had it since the sim program started works great!
I have tried the configuring that's on this site and my MMS still doesn't work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I am about to throw this iphone out the window and go back to my android
@kristy miller, I'll be happy to try to help you get your mms working. Do you see Cellular Data Network under Settings>General>Network?
The iPhone 3GS works perfectly on Straight Talk. Since I have a low post count, I cannot share a link to HoFo's wiki on using Straight Talk with iPhone. To summarize everything, the answer is yes you can use the 3GS (or any GSM compatible) iPhone on ST.
Now for the MMS and Data setup issue. The Unlockit website will definitely get you squared away with setting up the data on a locked (or even unlocked) iPhone from AT&. Just make sure you have Wi-Fi available to download the profile to your phone and magically your data will work.
As for the MMS there are two ways to get it working:
1. Jail breaking, which I cannot do due to security policies at work - so this is a ymmv recommendation.
2. iBackupBot program - all you have to do is edit the SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist file and change wap.cingular to att.mvno
That is basically it: just use unlockit's website and edit the preferences.plist file mentioned earlier with iBackupBot, and you will have both data and MMS working.
BIG NOTE ON AT&T MVNO SIMS - Apple has allowed the providers that use SIM cards to enable or disable certain phone configuration utilities, in the case of Straight Talk and other AT&T based MVNOs; they disable the APN settings feature of the phone the SIM is put into. I am not sure why that is so, but I am guessing that they did this to prevent tethering; however, I am sure there are other valid reasons as well.
I've been trying out straight talk on an iPhone 3GS for a few weeks now. I have to say everything works pretty much as well as my iPhone 4 on Verizon. I am considering going to all Straight Talk after my Verizon contract is up especially with the changes Verizon has made to their data plans.
Ok I used the the unlockit and it worked great by giving me my data. However, when I switched the settings on the iBackupBot it gave me my MMS but took away my data. When I make the changes to iBackupBot and am to check the box and hit restore, correct? It takes off the APN changer ulockit puts on. What am I doing wrong? So frustrated cuz I thought everything was working till I went to get online without my wi-fi. Thanks!
