I look through this website and I am completely amazed how it is getting out of hand with using data. Do you need to use every bit of data you can suck out of the provider. I see this going from bad to worse down the road and eventually you will pay for your data like pay per view.

I personally do not use data nor have a smart phone because I am smart enough to know not to pay for such foolishness and use my money for other more important things in life.

I understand, but I use my smartphone for its intended purposes. Crickets policy on daily limits is really a sad thing to see. I may use 300kb 5- 6 days in a row and then 300mb on a remote desktop session once a month. With the current throttling practices that makes a smartphone useless. Its like having a top fuel dragster that has an engine that cuts off at 60mph, whats the point of having it then.

If providers want to play by those rules then eventually you will see handset development stall then eventually atrophy like the desktop computer business. It would make you puke if you saw what any large carriers cost per user as well as average revenue per user is.

The point of this post is that the companies are wanting to get that cost per user as close to $0.00 as they can and unless people start posting and complaining this issue will eventually get to the point that using data will be almost useless or will be so costly that the average user will revert to dumb phones.

This all boils down to the industries mentality of " oh, well is so in so wireless is charging for this then why dont we". This reminds me of the airlines and look what kind of mess they eventually got into. They also need to keep in mind that cell phones are a convenience, not a necessity.

I bet this guy also has a working outhouse and would rather shoot his food than buy it. Everyone has their needs. I'm not a 16 year old playing around on facebook. I actually use mine for its intended purpose. It's poeple like you that the providers want because it takes less to please you and they make more off of people like that.

first off not trying to insult you, just stating a fact.

I work in the industry and everyday I hear customers whining and practically crying cause they cannot access the internet. I am aware some use it for business and I have no argument with them however the general public is the one I have a problem with. I hear them everyday about not able to get their text messages or business replies(I ask them what kind of business do you have) in a very nice way.

it will come to a point where the cell phones companies will just charge by the kb and it will be a turning point at that time. Unlimited data is gone due to a few data hogs who do not care about anything than themselves. And they want to be up to minute on every email they receive like it their last email.

if you dont believe read on the various sites here about how people are complaining about losing unlimited service if you dont believe and I do not agree with the cell phone companies either. They should be ashamed of themselved for not looking into the future and seeing this happening.

    Thank you for the reply.

sorry to tell ya but I spend my money on my home with updates and redocorating and the companies dont get anymore from me than I care to give them. I do not download ringtones(waste of money) or pay for songs(another waste of money) and I do not use data plan(another waste of money.

I am older and smarter and I just had a landlines put in my house cause the price is great and reasonable. And I do not have outhouse either. Sorry nor do I shoot for my food I buy with my money I have from saving it from wastes in life. I am glad you use it as it is intended but sir you know very well they are some who need the latest and greatest phone every year or they will go through withdrawal especially from my point of view. Sorry if I hit a nerve about data service.

    Thank you for responding.

smart phones are not a necessary and all you need is a phone to keep in contact with loved one. thank you for the reply.

To you its perfectly fine to not use data but for someone like me in a rural area that does IT support over their phone its far more convenient to pull over to the side of the road and remote into a customers pc than to drive 20 miles of dirt roads. When they throttle me it prevents me from performing my job. I use smartphone like a mechanic uses his tool set. Now if you don't use a phone for anything more than calling people and using YouTube your better off with a feature phone. I on the other hand actually need a smartphone and the current state of wireless companies usage policies is pathetic.

well I completely understand where you are coming from and Like I have stated it will get worse and worse down the road and the companies will charge per use instead of a plan with caps. they will just say you can buy by the minute and if you dont like that...too bad....

and for the record I do not use you tube on my phone and I use my phone very sparingly...

hope you have a good 4th of july.
