Rogers corporate strategy has been "charge more for less" for sometime but it seems they are being more overt about it now. Maybe they've had an epiphany about being more honest.

That's why I support the push to require those who have personal affiliation with carriers, providers, dealers to list their affiliations in the signature or somewhere easy to see. Just like when a stock trader says something on the news, they have to disclose themselves.

And I think this is so funny that if this is such a good thing to get rid of per second billing, then why DID Fido say it was such a good thing to have per second billing in their marketing for years? Isn't it contradictory?

Remember when Fido removed per second billing for their prepaid? Now that hurt those prepaid users! I'd challenge Facehuggers to say how this is good.

BTW, if this is so good. I think per hour billing is only better. At least this is how my lawyer bills me anyway!

all FUTURE 6GB data add ons? what about my current retention 6GB plan. I'm almost due for a renew of my plan, but waiting for new phones to come out at the end of the year (plan ends Dec/2012). I just switched from having 500mb for so long at $25.... Will this be "grandfathered" now and only lost if i switch up my plan

Or being forced to be honest. Just like the grrf, now they just raised the prices. Watch the overage minutes rate for fido jump.

If this is true, as soon as I get charged for per min. I'm off to Wind. While I'm not thrilled with the lack of network, I rarely leave the GTA so not a deal breaker for the odd time.

Nope, just the fancy smancy ability to read and do basic math when doing complicated things like comparison shopping. The alternative is that Rogers providing the lowest value for the highest price for so long has been unintentional. I guess with the Rogers brain trust, that could be possible too. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe that was wrong.

Unless you were referring to my suggestion that Rogers was becoming more honest. I'll, admit, I pulled that one out of my ***. Even I don't believe that.

    Just caught this comment:
“Fido will adopt the common billing practice in Canada: per-minute billing beginning July 4th. This means that calls are rounded up to the nearest minute. This change will apply to new customers signing up with Fido. All customers who are on current plans with per second billing will retain this feature unless they change their monthly plan. The majority of customers should not notice any impact to their monthly bills. Fido offers several great plans with various call, text and data allowances that are designed to meet any need.”

    1. Local airtime minutes only, billed by the minute. Each additional minute costs 45˘ (20˘ for Call Forwarding).
    2. Local airtime minutes within CityFido zones only, billed by the minute; airtime used for calls made & received outside CityFido zones costs 25˘/min. Long distance charges of 45˘/min may apply and are determined based on local calling areas, not CityFido zones; fido.ca/callingareas

I just moved from Vancouver to Nanaimo so I made the opposite move, wow, everyone really gets screwed outside the big cities. And now the one minor saving grace of Fido is gone. Pathetic.
