If you look at Verizon's map and go by that then yeah they got good coverage. There is a huge 10 square mile area around me that has no coverage but their map says other wise and us cellular has very little native coverage in NC. My bud and I travel alot in NC and he has Verizon so I know how they are. Verizon may be good in alot of western NC but doesn't mean there's spots at&t won't be better. Everybody has the mindset if you don't have Verizon you won't have coverage which is not the case. I'm not defending at&t I could care less but the fact that everybody things Verizon rules NC is inaccurate.

Sprint is TRASH here in Greensboro, hell Cricket and T-Mobile gets better reception than them. AT&T is good here...until you go indoors. Verizon is the only choice in G'boro unless you plan on going to Walmart and downtown often.

That's still a matter of opinion cause I could say att has better coverage in the area where SC, NC, and Georgia meets. Verizon relies on roaming alot at&t relies on its own network.

Sprint called me today (I've had a couple of dan@sprint emails...and played a little phone tag with a Sprint representative). I told her my concerns regarding Charlotte, Albemarle, and Myrtle Beach. I got the line (as predicted of course) that they were diligently upgrading their towers, and they wanted to keep my business.

I went to the mountains today (West Jefferson) and data was actually bearable. However, I don't spend a great deal of time up there. My minutes start over July 4, so tomorrow is D-day. I'm going to visit Verizon and AT&T to see what deals and discounts I can get.

I'll keep you up to speed!!!

And one other thing...my area is listed as moderate coverage for voice. However, I have used an AT&T indoors here before and had no problem...Should I have any issues with dropped calls at home?

Not sure where you see Verizon is roaming because its pretty much ALL native coverage including LTE near where SC and NC meet GA.... I would rather have roaming backup anyways than native poor coverage...

Being a PCS carrier AT&T has worse rural coverage, and worse coverage overall geographically. Every carrier including Verizon has dead zone's, but looking at an overall picture Verizon win's hands down, especially with 850mhz Voice and data.

Also Verizon's native network there is all 3G with massive amounts of LTE, where AT&T still has large area's in NC and SC that are rural with EDGE only. Especially up in the mountain's.

Its one thing to say that's the way it should be but real world usage is different. On 64 next to Georgia there is a huge area where Verizon has no voice coverage period lte means nothing if you wanna talk to somebody. My house ( not in western NC) for example has zero voice or data coverage my friend called Verizon they won't do anything he's been with them like 6 years. In ruffin there is no coverage where I have coverage. Verizon does roam in places around boone because alot of areas are 1x extended. When I went to laurel springs Verizon was roaming that's just outside of west Jefferson that's back when I had T-Mobile and used my friends phone to call out cause of lack of signal. Verizon roams on us cellular in western NC. I just looked at their coverage map to see how good it is it doesn't look much different than when I was their before the only difference is a few 4g spots. I never said Verizon was bad in western NC but its certainly not better than at&t and neither is at&t better in real world usage in western NC I'd say they are probably pretty even weighing the pros and cons.

Go to their map and look at their push to talk coverage that is native coverage only the rest is roaming.

AT&T is the best provider in Myrtle Beach hands down. Alltel was terrible for a cellular carrier and Verizon was pretty bad for a PCS carrier. Now that they have merged, things really haven't improved much IMO. Even in super rural areas outside Myrtle Beach, only GSM works (T-Mobile fka Suncom isn't bad either). Other areas of the states, I have no idea. You won't regret at&t in Myrtle Beach though. While At&t is PCS, they have so many sites, congestion is low and signal is really reliable.
