I went back from a Wind store today with the latest SIM card. The service guy told me it's the fourth generation SIM which is supposed to provide better reception and roaming ability.
I barely get signal within my office. Hopefully it will change.
The cs said he just received this new version about two weeks ago. Even some cs at 611 don't know there's been an upgrade recently.
If anyone experiences network problems like me, just go to check if you're eligible for an upgrade at your closest Wind store. I got it for free.
I'll come back to report if I get better coverage after long weekend.
Happy Canada Day!

Unfortunately, swapping sim cards is just something that customer service often tells customers just to get them off the phone. The only way you're going to get better reception is if something was wrong with your old one. Wind must have some type of world record for telling customers to perform sim cards swaps, most of which do absolutely nothing. At the same time, it's can't harm anything either. I've performed a few sim cards swaps for troubleshooting purposes, as well as tried numerous different phones to test reception, and you know what? Swapping sim cards never made any difference for me.
i had the white sim with a wind logo on it from when they first started... and i swapped for a new one because the old one didnt work in europe last year, and i notice nothing different at all.....connection is still slow as hell and i still get low reception... i think gaining reception off a sim card is bull.... no way a sim card would make signal stronger.
<those speeds are unthrottled! wind data sucks..
Of course it's bull! Like I said, that's just what customer service will tell a customer to get him/her off the phone. Wind isn't the only company guilty of that. If the sim card has been damaged, it's possible that the phone won't be able to detect the sim card or that it may sometimes work and sometimes not, but the idea of a different sim card providing stronger network signal over another is beyond ludicrous.
+1 ... for me the dropped calls syndrome (lol) has fixed by getting a new SIM ... I had the SIM card out of the phone for over 3-4 month or maybe more and it was thrown on the ground and tossed in the luggage so I might suspect that it probably had to do with the dropped calls
Where are you guys getting these sim swaps, are you paying for the replacement sim because every time I go the warranty center they tell me replacement Sims are $10 and even then it seems like they don't want to do it.

I find this thread hilarious. If it were that simple, Wind could stop buying towers and simply work on better SIM cards. I have had cell service throughout the gsm era in Canada. Been with a number of providers. Never once have I been issued a defective SIM. Only once did a Rogers tech try to solve a problem I had by suggesting a SIM swap. I went along with it because I have small box of unused Rogers SIM cards. As expected the SIM swap did nothing.
Wind cs is completely broken. They need to be swapped out. Before any Wind fanboys jump all over me, I have had lots of experience over a short period of time listening to the lovely voice. No, the previous experience does not seem to make the next one better. Actually it is regressive.

I got a new sim few months ago, they replaced it for free. The old one had the temp number i got when first signed on and was never able to get rid of it, my phone always reported that number as my number, new sim fixed that. As far improving call reception, sim wont help.
