I have a Samsung S2 for Sprint and want to switch to Verizon, and my wife has an HTC slide phone. Can we switch these phones to Verizon for coverage?

Page plus which is Verizon network

If the ESN is not in Verizon's database, they will not allow the phone to be activated. Sprint branded phones will not be in the database, so the answer is no.
aadamtheking does have a good suggestion though, with Page Plus. They don't have the same types of plans as Verizon, but they do run on the Verizon network, so the coverage would be the same. You should be able to get those Sprint phones activated. Check to see if you have a Page Plus dealer in your area.

So with Page Plus you would get the same internet speed and connection, and same phone reception as verizon?

My sister in law is on Page Plus and she doesn't seem to have any issues with reception. She does not use data much so I can't comment on that. She is however using a Verizon phone so you may want to double check with them before getting those phones activated.
I believe with Page Plus, you will only get 3G. No LTE. I don't even know if Page Plus will allow you to activate a LTE phone with them.
