Cool Coming back to Apple but need help =)

    Hello everyone..

I am on my way back to Apple. Currently using Android device with AT&T.

When the "" iPhone 5 "" comes out I will purchase this but unlocked witch leads me to many questions.

1st.. Moving all of my stuff off of GMAIL is a big task. Anyone have ideas on how to move my contacts and pictures off of Google services back to the iCloud ? I had a MobileME account in the past and Apple upgraded it to iCloud so at least I did not lose my email or the sub accounts.

2nd.. Is it true that iPADS are unlocked and can be used for any carrier? I travel a lot sorta important.

3rd. For the time being because I don't want to buy a iPhone 4s when we are so close to the new iPhone is there any way to have my current phone Samsung Infuse 4G connect to the iCloud for at least my email ?

    Thank you in advance!

    Joe

Only selected Apple devices can connect to iCloud for storage. The email account associated with iCloud uses IMAP protocol. Any email client with IMAP functionality can retrieve mail. If older mail is still on the IMAP server, it can be mirrored on corresponding folders on the device you use to connect to iCloud email.
You can export your GMAIL contacts to comma separated value file and import those to a program on your computer supported by iCloud. You also can synchronize Google information directly to iPhones through Mail, Contacts, Calendar settings.

Cloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), or iPad; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.

Just set up the GMail account you use with your Android with iOS mail using Exchange server method. All your mail, contacts and calendars will magically sync right over. Not too shabby and Google has a guide on how to do it.

    Thank you Earl and Doolie!

This is a big help. I am very excited to come back over.

How long have you two been iPhone users?

I travel to the Philippines through out the year and parts of Japan. Everyone seems to have a iPad with no problems.. The Android device would not work well because every app continued to time out. Face time is used so much as well. Works great!

    Can't wait!

    Thanks,

    Joe

To answer your iPad question, yes, every iPad sold is factory-unlocked and can be used with any SIM card on any compatible service provider.

Alternatively, AT&T provides a phone to phone migration tool as well.

As already stated just Setup Google as an Exchange account (just google the directions) you can sync calendars, contacts and email and the best part is you can access all those online without any change... The only thing I use iCloud for is to do automatic backups.
