Anyway, I don't foresee a drop in iPhone pricing soon. The iPod idea is an option though.

I don't see either version of the VM iphone being a big sales hit because it costs way more then any Android, might as well go contract and get a subsidized iphone, you can byod gsm iphones and even some cdma ones with some work, the new iphone 5 coming out will reduce the value of the older two models, etc, etc.

Btw, the Droid Razr from Verizon is $800 off contract so overpriced is relative. Androids lose their resale value much faster then iphones. I think a Gsm or verizon iphone will have higher resale value then a VM one for some reason...

The iPhone only costs about $200 to produce, so saying it's being sold "at cost" is only because Apple is pushing the cost onto Sprint, and now Sprint is desperately unloading nearly worthless devices on hapless prepaid consumers with deep pockets (who cannot do the math). Come September, the iPhone 4S will be seen as inferior both in specs and (more importantly) appearance. Who wants an old-looking phone?

Poor Virgin Mobile, they DID offer a discount -- $5 off a month on bad data tied to a bad auto-pay system.

You're comparing a postpaid phone to a prepaid phone, that doesn't make sense. The postpaid Galaxy Nexus is $600+, while the unlocked one is $350 straight from Google; use that for comparison. If you buy a postpaid phone at full price you deepen Verizon's pockets; this deal only deepens Apple's.

It does not matter what it cost Apple, you never ever price a product on what it is worth. It is rather what the market will allow. They have done a great job at it.

Your right, Sprint is widely believed (by most analyst's) to be unloading some to prepaid to lessen the insane, soul selling commitment they made.

The commitment is a dollar amount over the contract life not X amount of devices.

Sprint isn't relying on unloading iPhones at this time.

"AT&T and Verizon also had strong profit numbers, but that happened because they were a bit light on iPhone adds. The expensive subsidy support of the iPhone means that operators almost always either beat their iPhone consensus or profit consensus, but never both in the same quarter. Sprint’s combination of strong iPhone sales and a profit pop is what woke up Wall Street on Thursday."

Sprint iPhone launched Oct. 14th 2011

    Q2 2012 - 1.5 million sold

    Q1 2012 - 1.5 million sold

    Q4 2011 - 1.8 million sold

“It was a solid quarter,” said Kevin Smithen, an analyst at Macquarie Securities USA Inc. in New York. The results show that Sprint was smart to get the iPhone, he said, despite a costly purchase agreement it made with Apple Inc. (AAPL) “People will question why they got the iPhone. Now they have the answer.”

Some analysts are nothing more than anal-cysts... They just can't see past their erroneous predictions, regardless of actual results.

VM's iPhone must be selling fairly well, they just began to discount their mid & high-end androids.
CON-Tracts??? We don't need no stinking contracts!

VM's iPhone must be overpriced, look how much it costs compared to high-end Android phones?

Get a gsm iphone 4 or 4s , software, permanent code or gevey turbo sim unlock it and put it on a gsm prepaid carrier. You will save hundreds on the phone.

Question iPhone and $30 a month?

I saw a poster from Virgin Mobile that showed the new iPhones and $30 what deal is this?

Yes, with any iPhone on your account and AutoPay, $5 is knocked off of your monthly bill. So with the cheapest $35 a month plan, that takes it down to $30.

You can see it on the right side of the page when you click any iPhone on VM's site: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/...hone/features/

Oh I see. And I know this is a stupid question but when it comes to Virgin Mobile's minutes for instance there 300 minutes, if I'm on the phone with a friend for like 1 minute or 10 minutes those are deducted from the 300 minutes right?

That's correct; just like with any other cellphone carrier out there, so even if you talked for 20 seconds, it would still use up one minute from your 300 minute allowance. The same also applies when calling your voice mail.

This is something you already knew about, correct?

I don't use my phone much but when I do its maybe 1-2 minute phone calls or sometimes 15 minutes if not an 1 or 2 long SOMETIMES.

So do you think the whole minute thing is a good way to go? I am currently a member of Boost Mobile and LOVE the whole unlimited on EVERYTHING deal.
