the htc one v is awesome! got mines today. i was not impressed with the pricier (and more bug prone) evo 4g so i returned it. here's what i like about the one v. 1) build quality: thinner & lighter. back case made of aluminum instead of soft plastic 2) screen: brighter with better color saturation and contrast. 3) sound: incoming calls just as loud as the evo 4g but a little clearer with less static 4) texting: can type messages more than 2 lines long in landscape mode without word dictionary blocking the 3rd line 5) voicemail: used VM voicemail instead of sprint visual voicemail 6) camera: havent test it much yet. shot a few pics and they are more colorful than on the evo 4g. dont have the dullish gray look. camera doesnt stick out from the back either.

Lol if that's directed at me, I have the Elite and have had it since May.. If someone doesn't know the difference in price/performance reasoning between the Evo V and the Elite/One V, they'd be an idiot, but what I was saying is: the One V is very mid-range compared to the Evo V, so I couldn't understand why so many people are excited for it. But I do retract my previous statements though, because for $200, I actually do understand now.

And yeah, alk the older phones should be discontinued. Nobody nowadays wants a Wildfire S, or even the Optimus V(great little phone, but way outdated now)

Just sold my Elite on craigslist and retrieved an HTC One V from Best Buy yesterday. I'm loving ICS and the HTC Sense overlay. It's a very smooth interface, in my opinion. Camera quality is a tad grainy, but it's not terrible. I haven't tried the video function yet, but I'm assuming if the camera quality is grainy..the video quality will be as well. Call quality is excellent, haven't tried speakerphone yet. I'll let you know how battery life is once I actually get a full charge. I was messing around with it so much yesterday right out of the box, that I didn't get to fully charge it until this morning. Overall so far though, I am impressed. I loved the Elite, but it felt like something was missing.

Just gave up my grandfathered $40 plan and upgraded from the LG Optimus V to the HTC One V. Very slick phone, loving the interface. UNFORTUNATELY, data and voice signal strength are crap. The LG always had full strength where I am currently at, but the HTC can't make or receive calls and can't muster enough bars for data. Anyone else having this problem? Perhaps I have a defective unit? Any solutions other than taking it back?

Something doesn't sound right, there should never be that much a discrepancy. How long has it been doing this?
    Sprint: $40.99 - $73.00 per month

The phone has been this unreliable since I turned it on. Also had problems with the battery indicator (full charg is never 100%, varies between 75-82%). I still have the LG Optimus and walked around with both. The LG is always consistently 4-5bars whereas the HTC just jumps around from no signal to 2-3 bars then back to no signal. Sigh....looks like I need to take this one back. I will update once I get a new unit.

Definitely sounds defective. I have taken my One V to areas that used to get 1 bar on my LG Optimus and it gets 3 bars. The phone itself has a strong antenna due to its location.

Can anyone tell how decent the external speaker is? Compared to the optimus v in particular? I like to listen to podcasts that way. Also, how is the stock music player for podcasts?

I have an Otterbox, which as you all know are very thick, and I've had zero issues with reception.

I have a black gel case on my HTC One V and so far the signal has remained exactly the same in the general areas I use it.

So, after a couple weeks with the One V, I went back to my Elite a couple hours ago.

The crisp resolution of the screen was really the only thing I liked towards the end. This phone lagged more than the Elite, Triumph, Venture, or Optimus V. I'm pretty sure Sense was a major factor in that.

With all specs aside, the Elite is a much better phone as far as performance, in my opinion.

really? bummer, I guess ics needs a little more then a 1ghz cpu thrown at it to run at gingerbread speeds. I mean even my 600 optimus v was pretty snappy on 2.3. Sense probably didn't help, but I wouldn't put the blame on it for being laggy.

It's true. It is a bit laggy & I think Sense is the blame too. Has great battery life though. I'm hoping to switch to the EVO this week.
