Beware Videotron Mobile!!! Bad engineering support for phones... impossible to transfer your contract...and phones don't work fully on other networks!

Increasingly disappointed with Videotron..... I am on my 3rd LG-P999, and it is still stuck on Android 2.2 because Videotron won't pay LG for the updates. This is a very buggy phone and Videotron refuses to acknowledge any issues. They are on V21D when T Mobile and other carriers have updated (more reliable) basebands and are running V21Y on Android 2.3. This is a very buggy phone and Videotron refuses to acknowledge any problems with the poor battery life, constant crashing and resets... losing text messages, etc.

Also be careful which phone you chose... they will get special versions of 2 band phones that will only work on AWS single carriers in Canada. For example the LG-P999... so forget about getting HSPA speeds if you take your phone to another carrier, it will only work on 2G (edge) speeds. (It will work on WIND)

While the cost of voice roaming is now reasonable in Canada and the US ($0.30 per minute) data roaming is a ridiculous $0.20 per MB in Canada and $0.10 in the US. They do not have any data packages (unlike most of the nationals).

Since I am travelling more and more to other parts of the country I felt I needed a national plan to avoid these excessive data charges, but lo and behold... Videotron will not allow me to transfer the remainder of my contract to someone else! Astonishingly Videotron is (AFAIK) the ONLY mobile carrier in Canada that won`t let you transfer your contract!

So at this point I have to pay my hardware inducement fee (now $286) and end up with a doorstop of a phone that does not work on Bell, Rogers or Telus.

On the + side I don`t have much to complain about with the quality of the network in and around Montreal, with the exception of being inside big buildings, where it does not work at all.

Your doorstop should also work on TMobile, FWIW. Sorry you're stuck with it.
